After reading all these posts, I'll admit that I was expecting the worst when I flipped on the power for the first time. But, R2 came to life exactly like he was supposed to. He patrolled the room, avoiding obstacles like a pro - though he got kind of hung up on the grooves of the tile floor occasionally. He showed Princess Leia beautifully with nice audio, though I couldn't get Luke to appear - I'm certain because of the tablet software, as the hologram options were messed up on screen. Voice and Face recognition don't seem to be working, though video is displaying through the phone properly. I checked the microphone connection and it is good. I saw another post that someone reinstalled the app and that fixed his problem - so I'll give that a try tomorrow. But, I gotta say, after squeezing my big fingers into that tiny body of his pressing connectors into place - it's no surprise people are having problems. It would be really easy to force one in backwards, miss a connection, plug into the wrong spot or fail to seat it properly. Anyway, it's way too late, and my wife is already annoyed that I woke her to show her R2 in all his glory - so I'm calling it a night. Current Builds: R2D2, Millenium Falcon

Quick follow up. Wife didn't wake up, so I'm golden! Oh, and, using my IPhone to control R2 instead of my android tablet has him working perfectly! Hologram options show up and play correctly, and he has understood all voice commands so far. I don't know how or when face recognition kicks in, but his light has flashed blue when I stick my face into his. Anyway - wanted to extend my thanks to Model Space and particularly to you guys running this forum. R2 has been a project that I've have, to describe it most accurately, been obsessing about for the past 2 years, and bringing him to completion has been so satisfying and rewarding. If I were to pass a request up the chain - it would be to expand the patrol mode to incorporate more of the R2 features to make him come to life, like head movement, expressive outbursts when encountering something, pause and follow facial recognition, displays lights coming on and the like. It's all there already, just needs to be combined into one. If you'll share the code with me, I'd be glad to do it for free! Current Builds: R2D2, Millenium Falcon

Well done … I finished mine and he works a charm on the iPhone app, on the one hard floor I've got he does at least. I need to do the centre wheel fettle trick to make him a lot less jerky on carpets … The actual only big problem I've got is that my fat sausage fingers managed to flick that clamshell locking bit the camera plugs into completely out of the socket and can I find it to put it back … no … So I bush fixed it, or so I thought, by really carefully lining up the ribbon connector with the port and dropping two tiny drops of superglue on each end to hold it tight … big mistake and the camera refuses to work unsurprisingly … Got to pluck up courage to tell her indoors that my little fella needs another £ 20 spent on him for me to re-order 97 and 99 again to get a new camera and control unit as I can only envisage irreparable damage occurring if I attempt to unglue the bush fix … Hey ho, life lessons to be learnt and all that ... I've enjoyed every minute of the build. Built - R2D2, Thunderbird 2, X-Wing / WAS Building(Ha!)- Bailed after eight months without pack 15 - Millenium Falcon
