Now i have them it has come time in my build to start on the cabin partitions in issue 57.

Part 1 on page 13 in issue 57 says to check the height of the parts against the frome and sand them if necessary.

Now i know this is due to my hull being twited, or the ribs not seated right, but if i sand the parts down to fit beneath the ribs i will either, not have enough soace for the 1x4 parts to be added or the crossmeber that fit into this part will protude.

What is your adive on dealing with this issue.

Any help is much appreciated.

regards

hi fos,the pic you've put up shows the partition upside down, your 4x4mm.pieces go in the slots.so the hight should not matter.you reduce the partitions at the bottom.

I put it upside down as thats the way it shows in the mag. If i was to trim the bottom won to make it level, then i would not have enough room to out the 1X4 peice on the fromt to make the panneling.

It's upside down mate - take my word for it. The 4x4 spans go across the top from left to right

I think Foz has misread the instructions and my diary build, which says mark the height then turn over, so that in essence a height line will be at the bottom of the panel which material can be removed from, rather than placing it the right way round to marking its height at the top of the panel, which is where material should NOT be removed from.

I see what you mean.reduce the width of the 1x4mm to 3x1 or even 2x1mm.

not recomended --- i check my hight with a cross member the hight was the same so i made up the partition and fitten 2x2 inside the ones that run for and aft the ditance down for the cross member to fit flush with the top of cabin and fitted the ford crossmember between cabin and ship side, rest of the crossmember normal then when fitting deck it was also glued to the cabin with out a gap on top

If you look at the photo from my build, it shows that you need'nt take much off the base of the front partitions to get the correct height, this will mean they go right up to the decking without leaving a gap at the top,

I just measured the height to the top of the deck support beams, side and rear can be taken to the support level as this wont be seen when decking is in place.

I always avoid cutting or sanding wherever possible in case too much is removed, as said in the past double then treble check before any cutting or glueing, (I glued the partition beam with the cut out facing the wrong way, and needed to cut it out and turn it round before fixing to the deck, would have been disastrous if I glued the lot in place on deck then noticed I'd made a 'bo bo').

Happy building,
Jeff
