Good morning all Well its been a long time since my last post due to work but over the last week or so I've got back into it and I'm on the final straight with around 150 parts to go until completion. I've reached a point where I thought I would post some pictures. This is the first model I've built since I was 8 years old (long time ago) that has photo etch parts and whilst not the most difficult thing to do, I would have preferred to have had a bit of practice with PE parts beforehand, I think, due to this models complexity, (and cost) and the need to get it right. You may see from the photos some unfinished or untidy bits but some of the PE parts were damaged so I've tried to make good as best I can, similarly there were several plastic damaged parts again I've repaired these. Coupled with several ill-fitting parts I've had to compromise but these, unless you look really closely are hardly noticeable so all looking good generally and I'm looking forward to finishing. I have 20 new models I've been collecting that are waiting for my attention-cant wait! Regards to all Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Hello all A while since my last update but today-nearly 2 years,2 months since construction started I'm pleased (for my sanity) to say that my Trumpeter 1/200 HMS Hood has finally been completed apart from the base which is in the design stage but I will be incorporating the cap tally temporarily fixed to a plinth (also temporary)as seen in the photo. It has been the most intricate, challenging model I have ever made. This is the first time I have used PE parts and that proved tricky most of the time but by the time I had got to fixing the railings around the deck I felt competent in its use and will certainly use PE parts again. A decent size model and aesthetically pleasing. I did a fair amount of research about the Hood and the way she may have looked at any one time and given the enormous differences in what colours were used in what year etc, I decided, for purposes of highlighting the model, to paint the blast bags a subtle shade of grey, and the anchor chains white. I believe this gives a bit of depth to what it is being viewed. The same as the lifeboats, I studied many images including other models and chose the scheme you see in the pictures. I am currently waiting for some tiny stickers for the lifeboat windows having opted out of painting them to avoid overpainting and provide neat window lines. Time to start the Dragon 1/6 Sherman-this should be a breeze with all those large parts Thanks for looking in. Regards to everyone Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Thank you all very much for your comments. A display case is on the cards-I’m probably going to make my own as the shop bought ones are quite expensive. I’m pleased to say my wife has allowed me to display it in the front room- I cannot believe it she even photographed it sitting on the windowsill! However it won’t be staying there due to risk of damage. Again thanks to each and everyone of you. Regards. Alan
