I honestly thought that making the canisters would be less challenging than some of the things I've made for this boat. But no! lol The brass barrels look good don't they. Will fit that one next week and then look at the gun as a whole. Maybe replace some of the valve hand wheels with etched brass ones. Due to 3d printing, the gun feels very fragile, so I'm going to strengthen it by substituting some details for plastic or brass. Regards, Phil W. There are some nice upgrades out there and looking good  Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Your tenacity and abundant patience have certainly paid off and even though you spent time faffing about I'm sure now you think it was all worth while, especially with the results you've ended up with.. Good morning from 'The Dockyard'. This week i started making the two water-tight ammunition canisters for the upper deck. They are smaller in diameter than those for the lower deck with added extra detail. I used 9.5mm diameter plastic tube, bought as a 1 meter length, for the main body of the canisters as seen in the photograph. From this tube i cut two small lengths; one 2mm and the other 10mm to form the main body of the canisters. I then cut four plastic discs using the compass cutter from 0.25mm thick plastic sheet and topped and tailed the tubing with these to form cylinders as seen in the attached photo. The next step was to fabricate the locking bars that hold the top of the canisters down. For this i started by using 1.0mm square strip, cut two pieces to 2.0mm in length and fixed to the centre of each cylinder. Using the 1.0mm square strip, i continued this down from the centre, leaving a slight overhang so i could file flush to the body. To make the catches i fixed 1.0mm x 0.5mm strip, cut to suit and glued to the ends of the 1.0mm square strip. The next step was to make two handles for the cylinder tops from 0.5mm diameter brass rod. 0.55mm diameter holes were drilled into the tops of the cylinders and the brass rod bent to shape. I have a little more work to do on these water-tight ammunition canisters; fitting hinges and making a surround for each. i'll cover these steps in next weeks update. Meanwhile i took delivery of the brass gun barrels for the 2.0cm guns that will locate on the upper deck. PB Models of Poland is the supplier. I also ordered and took delivery of some very small rivets, 0.5mm diameter and 3.0mm long from Prime Miniatures [UK].  I will be using these to fix hand-wheels to the guns and later for the valve hand-wheels when i start to detail the inside of the U-boat.
