Hi All, I made the internal Walls for the cabin as per the instructions in issue 63. Looking at various builds I feel that the red used is just too overpowering. Somebody used Hull red instead of ‘Post office red' and I quite like this colour. In an attempt to break the monotony of Black, I am going to deviate from the instructions and paint the entire interior of the cabin Hull Red. I am using Tamiya Hull Red XF 9, then mixing in some Tamiya Neutral Grey XF53 to lighten it for dry brushing, and finally a light dusting of pure Tamiya Neutral Grey XF53 just to lift the edges. I used coffee stirrers to add some detail to the bulwarks. Once done, they will get painted Matt Black and dry brushed Tamiya Neutral Grey XF53. Just a note to anybody following my build to assemble. I have had to cut about 1.5mm off the kit’s bulwarks & internal walls. This is to accommodate my jumping the gun with the deck planking. …and yes, my Cloths pegs ride again – the washing is laid out on the lawn!!! (I really love them) Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Hi All, I made the Cabin wall this weekend. Once again, I used the faithful coffee stirrers on the outside and scribed the inside. I painted the interior Tamiya Hull red & exterior Matt Black, dry brushed with Tamiya Neutral Grey XF53. I painted a very light coat of GW Typhus Corrosion onto the window mullions. I followed a suggestion on another Pearl forum that uses canopy glue (Crystal Clear) to glaze the windows. This worked a treat!!! Once dry it looks like dirty, smuggy glass that, I think, would be quite at home on the Black Pearl. The mouldings on either side of the cabin doors probably should have been black as well, but as with my reasoning in the previous update, I added some colour to liven things up a bit. My recipe is a basecoat of Tamiya Matt Black, GW Balthasar Gold, GW Typhus Corrosion into the recesses, dry brushed GW Balthasar Gold, followed by a light dusting of Tamiya Neutral Grey XF53 - just to tie the colours together. Whilst the paint was out, I masked the deck and painted the bulwarks black, followed by dry brushing. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.
