Can you recheck the conections from the head motor to the MCU you may have a pin pushing one of the wires out and not making a good contact. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

When full charge they will read 4.2v. 3.7v per cell is not enough to power our droid. You should be getting 12.3 volts aprox from the end of the battery box cable when tested. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

right, we have some progress, getting 12.37 VDC from the battery lead and when I lift his head off the motor and pass a screwdriver through the head sensor his head motor stops turning and I have managed to connect the wifi. when I replace the head and look from underneath the metal part sticking down from the head support is passing through the sensor but the head keeps turning onto the stops Built so far R2D2 building Samba T1 and loads of lego

I have the exact same issue. I've replaced the MCU and head motor and it still won't work. Surely the tech team/ designers of this model should know what the fault is. Ordering parts is now getting tiring.
I've emailed Modelspace and attached this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z92ZMwZjFes) to the video of how it operates. Hopefully this time I will get a reply as I'm still waiting on a reply to my initial email in December!

Just to add, if it's the head sensor that's faulty then how does this cause the head to spin fast? Surely there is something causing the motor to drive fast. My batteries are the correct button top ones which I purchased from 18650.uk

Sean

Hi Sean Can you create your own thread on your R2 please so we dont get conflicting advice. Also have you double checked all your tabs are correctly added to each wire as per the instructions and that each plug is placed the correct way round in all the sockets. Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Andy Hi Andy, my problem is exactly the same as this chaps so what's the point in starting an identical thread? I've checked and double checked every tab/ connection etc (several times) and everything checks out. My main concern is the lack of support from model space. They are happy to take your cash but the impression I get is they don't give a hoot when things go wrong. Surely the boffins who designed this model will have an idea what could be wrong with it. The most disappointing thing is they simply don't seem to care, the customer service agents really are clueless and have no idea what your talking about when you call them and they fail to reply to emails The model was completed in December and we are now in to March and it still doesn't work. I'd be more than happy to post this piece of junk back to them for a full refund but the chances of that happening will be zero! Best regards, Sean

Can you describe what is happening to your R2 in a new thread please or it will be harder to help you. You also need to understand that I am trying to help you and that if you have a problem with C/S give them a call and ask to talk to a supervisor to resolve your issue. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
