Above this small component I fitted a lever with a small rivet acting as a pivot rod.

The next small component consists of brass rod and tubing and plastic square strip, all filed to look similar to actual photos.

Now that all of the details are complete on the gun body it was time to turn my attention to the gun shield. First job was to file off all of the small details, prepare all edges and glue the three sections of the shield together.

I then made two profiled sections and glued these to the shield. These profiled sections will attach to the gun body.

Now begins the addition of all the details to the shield starting with two, small grab handles. Made from 0.5mm diameter brass rod bent to shape then glued into 1.5mm wide x 1.0mm deep plastic strip. The attached photograph highlights their small size.

Now they are fiddly little guns. Doing a nice job on those. I dread when I start on my Iowa with all the Pontos etch.

It's trying to hold these small parts I find trickiest, especially when trying to file an edge without filing fingers! LOL

Good evening from 'The Dockyard'.

This week I continued with adding details to the Flak 37 gun for the conning tower lower deck.

I turned my attention to the gun shield and started by adding plastic strip and rod to simulate hinges, as the original had the capability of folding its outer edges. I also drilled and inserted to small lengths of 0.8mm diameter brass tube to simulate the locking holes for when the gun shield was folded.

The attached photo shows the tiny locking pins I made from 0.5mm brass rod bent to shape and the ends held together by 0.8mm diameter brass tube and all mounted on a small piece of plastic strip.
