Building at a different level there Phil. Never seen anything so detailed that is all being scratch built - its look fantastic. You seem to be well skilled with 3d design and printing as well. Are your prints resin based? They look like they might be. Hope it all continues well. Happy Modelling

Hope it all continues well. Thank you very much Tony! I bought the base models from Shapeways - a 3d printing company. The 3d printed base models aren't great, as all that small detail is very fragile when printed and easily broken. This was the reason i decided to substitute anything that I felt wouldn't stand the test of time with brass, aluminium and acrylic. A time consuming job, but worth it i feel. Regards, Phil W. Phil Thanks for the update. I had come across shapeways recently as i have an old revell Dresden kit and the main guns are a letdown and a couple of online builds suggested shapeways for parts. Must admit though what you are putting together is sonething very special indeed and its jot just the building but all the knowledge of the thing that impresses me. Hope it all continues well. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. This weeks update sees the modifications carried out on the two 2.0cm Flak 38 guns that will be located on the upper deck of the conning tower. These two guns were bought as 3D printed items, but suffered from being very fragile and so it was necessary to replace the smaller details making them more robust in the process. I also wanted the guns to pivot on their mounts so that I can have them aimed upwards which meant scratch-building the 'a-frames' that connect the guns to the their mounts. For these i used 1.0 x 1.5mm plastic strip, with one length bent around a needle file handle to obtain the correct curve. I also drilled through the guns with a 0.5mm diameter drill so I could insert a brass rod, cut to length to act as pivot point. See attached photo.
