Regarding batteries; the Samsung batteries are quite good. Additionally, I recently tested batteries for DeAgostini that work easily as well as the Samsung ones. These (the type I tested) will be for sale soon via the ModelSpace shop. I’m afraid I don’t have a specific timeframe though.
There is an excellent UK source for the batteries if you don’t want to wait for them to appear in the shop. (And having R2 just sit there, looking at you can be frustrating) Just google “Samsung 30Q”
I hope this helps.
you say you have tested batteries that 'work well', may i ask how much actual knowledge you have of 18650 cells??
there are many batteries out there that 'meet the given specs required' but there are also many hundreds more that don't meet the required specs, or even give any for that fact. there are also many hundreds more that are fake and very easy to purchase - these are extremely dangerous as was very recently shown on a BBC program where someone bought a head torch for running at night that used 18650 batteries. it turned out the battery in the torch was fake and resulted in the torch simply blowing up in the persons car!!
how difficult really is it for de agostini to give details of a reputable uk supplier? i agree that many people have sourced their own, and most from the same supplier, but come on - we were first told about the battery offer from September last year. 8 months ago by my calculations. it simply appears that de agostini are doing absolutely nothing and not a single person on this forum believes a word that anyone is saying.
rest assured that de agostini's reputation will be in tatters after this (worse than it already is in public opinion judging by trust pilot reviews and other reputable consumer websites). it doesn't take much for word to get out on social media and you will start to loose money. i for one would not recommend any product in the future to any anybody from this company and would probably actively seek to dissuade anyone from ever making a purchase.
customer service hasn't just been less than satisfactory it has been non existent. communications from the company have also been non existent regarding problems, changes, fixes to the many atrocious errors in the instructions and communications regarding the batteries has simply stopped. 8 months (well 2 yeras and 8 months if you count build time too) and no word kind of gives enough proof the company is doing nothing. the manufacturers would have known right from the beginning what the power source would be.
