No wonder c3po used to cursr r2d2 a lot. It seems im amongst hundreds of people that has r2 d2 doing a destruction derby around the house when put into patrol mode. He will just walk into stuff without avoiding it. As for the voice recognition...its very very poor. He hears me say hey r2d2 and shakes his head waiting for a command. 100 times ill say arms. Ill be there repeatedly saying arms, arms, arms, arms and he doesnt do it. He will eventually beep and walk into the furniture instead. I know the instruction manual says hes willfull but theres a difference between being deaf and being willfull. Ive even said lightsaber 100s of times, go forward 100s of times etc. Hes deaf as they come. I figured it may be to do with the protective plastic over the mic only having a very tiny hole for your voice to travel though. I hovered my mouth over it and hes still deaf. So ive paid £900 for a deaf r2d2 who cant patrol. Oddly enough, when hes placed into patrol mode through the app, he patrols perfectly without crashing into stuff. R2 d2 definately needs an update and before anyone says i havent built it correctly, I have followed the instructions thoroughly and tons of other people have discussed the same problems on forums, facebook etc. We all want something done about it. Bring out an app update that makes r2 understand english and a firmware update that makes him patrol properly. Whats the point of us having features that dont work?! hey r2 go hump a table leg. whit whit woo brrrrr. Hey r2 go break my furniture whit whit woo brrrr.

Would be nice eh? But sadly doubt that anything will be done. I've just learnt to accept that my R2 is substandard and ql always be! A real shame. This was my first part work and don't really think that I could invest my time or money with any more of this kind of thing in the future. Disappointed to say the least

Sad, but true. Even I am getting to the point where I'm going to say Heck, I'm not going to wait for the promised battery offer any more and get them independently.

No car company would be able to survive if they told customers that their car was going to take 100 weeks to build, tell them half way through that the fuel tank would be installed in week 92, and then end up making them wait to week 112 or more without telling them anything.

At this point, even the thread about the battery offer has been locked for 2 months!

With the number of htreads quoting problems against the number of threads saying "Everything works", I don't doubt there will be problems when he does start up for the first time.

Hello MadManMick, I completely agree, mine is also half deaf is blind, because in the patrol mode does not stop hitting with everything
find, to me personally, the patrol mode is too much for me, I would more than have a surveillance mode and use the large number of sensors that it has for it, it would not be bad if we could connect with it from outside the home, as for example from the work ... you can not either, on the other hand tell you that facial recognition does not work, at least in my case, in short I can not say that I have an R2D2, I mean a robot, but what we have is a very expensive toy , which does not seem to want to update.Sorry for my English is from Google translator.Cursing Cursing Cursing

@ Coser you are right but unfortunately even if you get to the point that he boots up OK, you will be stifled by the useless software/firmware that no one will take responsibility for even though all in all we have spent a small fortune for something that really is nothing more than an embarrassment when people ask to see him working.

@ Javier firstly Google translate seems to be doing a great job! As you said it is impossible to leave the robot on for any more than about 30secs without him trying to commit suicide or breaking anything else by knocking items over or anything else! Facial recognition is another almost complete failure as it doesnt work properly. Even if you do get it to recognise you (hardly ever) the facial tracking doesn't really work unless you move at an impossibly slow speed.

Not only disappointed but also quite angry about the lack of info or anything just seems to be ignored or brushed over. Seriously considering getting a refund even that wouldn't compensate the amount of my time I have put into building this thing.
