Almost 4 hours, and no chat, anywhere...
Where is the forum going?
Even questions to mod/admin get virtually zero response.

I purchased the Millennium Falcon and didn't have a problem. Im saving up for the Ford Mustang and the X-wing, but this is making me think twice about buying something from here.

Totally agree with everything said. It is in our own hands to show what skills we have and pass on those skills to members wanting to take on this hobby we all love. I agree it was getting to be a place to moan about things, but it should never have got to that in the first place, the forum was never a place to resolve those issues.
So, let’s get showing these skills again.BigGrin

It would be great if the forum could return to the way it was a few years ago, a lot of chat and a lot of fun, with a healthy number of good modellers posting up some very interesting build diaries and a general feeling of being a great forum to be a part of, and far less moaning about missed deliveries and inoperative electronics.

I for one will try to do my bit by continuing to update my builds - as and when I have the time away from work - in the hope that things will improve and I will continue to post as regular as I can until it becomes obvious that we are flogging a dead horse at which point I will stop, as would anyone - but I really don't want to do that at all!

What we need is plenty more chat and input from not just the regulars but a few more of the less active members as I've previously mentioned elsewhere. The forum needs a buzz, because without one nobody will want to join it, so now's the time to get on with rebuilding it. It would also be great if some structure was rebuilt and if the Forum Support Team could be reborn?

As I've also said …. "Use it or lose it!"

Less than ten active posts per day, as it is at the moment, just won't do it.

BigGrin Totally agree Kev it definitely needs more input from everyone on the forum to participate no matter how small the build is . Like you say use it or lose it it's down to everyone

we do need a few moderators for the spam we keep getting, i did offer to help and so did roy, but it fell on deaf ears, it needs a update from the admin and staff now and what there plans are, otherwise we are wasting our time, so come on staff let us know what is happening, it is a two way street.

We as members of this forum need to prove to the Admin/Mod that it is worth saving.

I have openly stated my case recently, but I`m still ready to get this forum back where it used to be "At the top".

Lets get back to what we are good at with modelling and let Admin deal with the background stuff and the CS issues.

The resolution is this:

Don`t just take out of the forum, put something into it however small.

I hope that if we prove our worth, then given the time needed Admin etc will step up, but they do need to be part of the forum as well.

Regards

Totally in agreement with you Derek, well said. ThumpUp

I think also, that the harsh words about the admin/moderator activity, or the apparent lack of it, need to stop and that they should be given every chance to put the forum back on it's feet and to gradually move it forward? Let's not forget that the current state of affairs seemingly began with Tom suddenly disappearing which subsequently left the Forum Support Team with no option other than to disband, and which as a result of both actions, left the forum effectively rudderless and cast adrift? Rather than jumping at every opportunity to vent their displeasure at the current team, members should take a step back, think about the consequences of the words that they are posting and spare a thought for the admin/moderator, in that it may well be case that they have suddenly had this situation dumped on them! It could well be that the people now tasked with taking over the running of the forum may not be suitably skilled to run a forum and have inadvertently been chucked in at the deep end, so to speak, with little or no knowledge of what to do and that they will need time to get up to speed and be able to sort this mess out?

Constantly having a moan about the admin/moderator activities seems to me to be the single biggest mistake that members could make and would likely lead to the forum being shut down!? Giving them a chance and doing as much as we can on the modelling side by keeping interest alive will likely lead to a resurgence of the forum and an upward spiral rather than a downward one?

Well, this is my first post for a very long time. I have been back occasionally to look in but was certainly not expect the forum to take this turn. It has a different feel to it if you get what I mean.

Im in the process of sorting out all my part builds and clearing out what I will never have room to display so I can concentrate on the ones I want to complete. In this event I will be offering a few half builds for sale soon before they go on the bay.

I know members come and go as they always have and Im sure if all the new members pitch in with the help of the "older" members to show em how things used to be, then thing could get back to how they were.

Im certainly not preaching here as Im as much to blame as anyone but it would be nice if all the old faces dropped a quick message so we can see who is still around, you know who you areBigGrin

Cheers

Hi there Steve

I am still around but bit unsure what to make of all of this present situation. I guess maybe like a few others.

Been having a few issues with some of my builds and without the engagement i would like to be seeing from customer services plus the changes to the forum i am very worried having taken on so many deagostini builds and those being at a stage were i am too far in to cancel but still far enough away from finishing that i am hoping i am going to get to that point.

Moved more to the screw together kits for now because issues with my Mum and trying to balance that with full time work does not just limit my hobby time - it completely wipes it out.

Been finding my screw togethers arrive in managable chunks that allow me to finish a stage before the next arrives. Been working on my Jaguar, Harley Fat Boy, Porsch (but that is a bit on hold as the body has paint faults and i await a replacement).

My constitution is 1 pack away from finishing the sub. In terms of building that has not progressed recently.

My lambourgini is at pack 4 and bismarck at second delivery and both to be started.

So thats were i am at right now.

Regards

Tony

Happy Modelling

BUILDING: Hachette Spitfire Mk 1A, Constructo Mayflower
SUBSCRIPTION COMPLETE (Awaiting building): USS Constitution, Sovereign of the Seas, 1:200 Bismarck (Hachette)

Not sure what you missed Daran, nobody else seems to know what happened either, but the fact is that the forum has had a major change in the way that it is being run, and it is now up to the members to try to get things back to the way that it used to be along with the help of admin. Let's hope that things are on the up now as more members seem to be posting again?

Good luck with your business ventures mate, I wish you every success! Cool ThumpUp

Tom was already here when I started my build 8 years ago and has always been very helpful. Not very nice of DeAg or the Moderator not to announce his departure on the forum or even thank him for all his efforts, I would say.

I guess any sign of the new forum to fix the age old problem with pictures here, has also disappeared over the horizon.
