Just enough to fit the gun port lids is all that is necessary since they will be set in the closed position.

All the canon ports are a carved out of the middle deck and in doing so i came up with a canon port hole checker...

Some stiff ish plastic is required from something like a packet..
Cut your 12mm x 12mm square.
Make your centre hole...
Get two pieces of plank of cuts about 3inches long and glue them together and clamp...
Once dry get a drawing and push through the square...
Then push it into the end of the two glued planks....

Thn hold upton the hole to get the size....

Very neat.

You did well getting all of those gun ports cut in so short a time. Good idea with the size checker as well.

Ive hit upon something that maybe nothing it concerns my build and part 31/32..

Watching the videos through out and reading the online mags ive noticed several differences between my build and the official build and other people..

As you increase the planking up the ribs and you get higher and higher then onto the gallery and the forward section of planking.
Now the forward section ive noticed that people have two planks in height to the rib 12....
My build as one forward plank but with about 2mm to 4mm sticking up above the plank from the ribs..
Do i cut a piece to cover those ribs!

The middle of the ship it shows you on the video and in the book to place a strip of planking in the middle to cover showing ribs upto the top edge of the ribs..

Now if i did that strip it would come to the middle of the single plank along the forward section i mentioned above.
Again do i do as in the video in part 31/32 cut a length n trim!
