Hi Tony,
Thank you for looking in and for your kind reply.

Just a small update. Sanded the new planking flush with the existing. After that I stained it with Ebony wood stain.
It looks very patchy now, but I will paint it all once all the assembly is done. The reason for the stain is mainly for a flat base for the paint to go on. It flows nicely into all the nooks & crannies.
Had some time left so I started fitting the Vera board for the lights.

Kind regards,
Garth

Your painting/staining of the ship is all looking nice and consistant.

Difficult sometimes to get an even colouring when you paint in sections but yours is working out really well.

Hi All,
Making lanterns AGAIN. Crying
I am not going to go through my process again. It’s basically the same as for the other lanterns. If you are interested the lower deck Post #112 and the gun deck Post #332.
I fitted the LED’s into the bottom of a couple of lanterns. These will be standing on the table and map cabinet.
I cut a groove in the deck for the tables wire. This will be hidden by the carpet.
Not shown in the instructions, but I added two lanterns outside of the cabin doors.
I closed up the cabin with the deck above to see if the cabin is light enough. I think it could do with a little more light. I am thinking of hiding some LED’s in the bay windows ceiling that should work like a down-lighter. Hope this worksConfused

Kind regards,
Garth

Very nice indeed.

I love your lighting effects which are just spit on to resemble candle piwered lanterns.

I will dig back through your diary and read up on how you have done these.

Very neat indeed.

Hi All,
Fitted three extra LED’s to the bay windows ceiling. I was running out of space on the Vera board, so I soldered the resistors directly to the LED’s.
I was worried that there weren’t going to be enough images of the maps, so I scanned in the sheet and duplicated them in Photoshop. I printed them on an A3 page – in hindsight, the A3 may have been excessive. Bored
Installed the maps & the accessories that were painted earlier.

Next, the gallery roof.
I think that as I have been going up, things have gone slightly out of alignment. Blushing Also, in the instructions, the rear window façade does not fit properly. It overlaps on both sides.
So, once I got to the roof, (I think parts 148), nothing fitted. I decided not to undo anything, as not much happens above the gallery, I remade the roof out of some scrap balsa I had in my scrap bag. FYI, it shapes much easier than the Supawood.
Kind regards,
Garth

Garth

As ever a really nice update on your build.

Its great having access to printers and scanners these days - few years ago you would never have thought about making your own parts.

Think your lighting looks fantastic - its when you see a kit as well made as yours that i wish i had subscribed to this one.

Hope it continues well for you.

Tony
