The Southern Cross Minatures kit has been out for a while now and I finally got round to buying one. I built the Matchbox version of this kit many years ago and always had my eye out for a better kit.

First some History, in 1934 Adolf Hitler asked for a racing team to be formed and four companys were asked to join and they became Auto Union or Audi as we know them today. Mercedes got quite miffed that they were not asked to join the group and many years of intence rivalry ensued culminating in the 1937 Grand Prix where Mercedes got 1st and 2nd in the race.

The kit is well boxed in sturdy cardboard and is of the multimedia type with styrene mouldings for the main body parts, resin for the majority of the other parts. Also included are etch components along with turned aluminium wheel hubs, wire, springs and rubber tyres. The decals allow for a choice of five cars to be made.

The instructions are clear and well thought out and include a glossy outer page that acts as the painting guide.

Anice kit that looks a very nice build.

Looks a fabulous kit Andy and one which I too have had on my wish list since it's release. Don't know if you're aware but there was a very good build article of this kit in the September 2018 (issue #94) edition of 'Airfix Model World' magazine? It may help you with your build?

Looking forward to watching you tackle this one Andy and I'll be following all the way. Great choice, well done. Drool ThumpUp
