Well, here's a shot of my XK 120... I actually bought this one as a part built/part wrecked model which was originally made by RAE a long time ago, now defunct. These models really are hens teeth so I'm pleased I managed to get it. I need to make new wheels and scratch umpteen smaller parts as well as try to get the interior out of the shell. The seats etc are actually really nicely detailed but I'd still like to see if it's possible to leather trim them and add carpets. Anyway - it's being put aside for now as I have quite a few projects on the go as it is. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well, maybe not of much interest to others but I've dismantled this big old lump and I'm now contemplating what to do with it. Cut the doors open? Open out the bonnet and add a full engine? Change the entire colour scheme? Any thoughts anyone? roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Change the colour Roy and your usual high quality leather interior and carpeting. Will look with interest with this one. Andy.

I think it's going to stay a single colour. I'm not aware of any two-tone XK120's.
I'm contemplating Old English white, or red...
I'll have to google and look at some colour/trim combinations.
Looking closely at it now its apart, I think opening out the doors and bonnet isn't really possible due to the internal structure and the resin thickness...

Although I might still change the body colour, the more I look at it, the more I like it in black. It shows the shape of the car off very well. In any case, the interior is going to stay tan. I've trimmed the seat back in leather and it looks better than the original painted resin so I'm going to move on with the rest of the interior... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Seats now all sorted. I had to cut the base into 3 parts and then sand the edges back by about 1mm each side to allow for the leather thickness being wrapped around all the edges. I'm quite happy with the result now that the parts are screwed back together. Door panels etc next. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks for the kind comments you chaps. The interior is coming along now and I've carpeted the floor and trimmed one door panel, one still to go. I found some pictures of a black XK120 that has tan/brown interior so I'm going with that. I was hoping I might be able to locate a set of DeAgostini E Type wheels/tyres but so far, no luck. I could hand lace my own as I've done before on several other scratch built models I've made before (pic of my DBR1 below) but TBH, I've got so many things on the go at present I might resort to Dunlop steel wheels which these cars did actually use. Thanks Andy. Interior trim almost complete now. Also now trimmed the cockpit 'rim'. Dashboard to finish and then repair the demolished steering wheel. The interior isn't fitted into the car properly yet, just placed to check the leather hasn't interfered with anything. So far, ok... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Umpteen little bits of steering wheel put back together now. It isn't perfect by any means and I was tempted to use a spare DeAgostini E Type wheel which many of these cars now have, but in the end I decided to try to keep it original. Wheels to sort next as they have to be fitted before any of the interior can be put back. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
