Thanks for the great feedback guys A bit more work done on the Vasa Some more of the carvings have been painted . The figurehead was primed and a base coat of Citadel gold was applied, once dry it was then painted with Mig metal gold then highlighted as per instructions I have jumped ahead of the instructions and drilled the gunports before fitting the rails as I was worried that I would damage the rails by to much pressure as these are quite delicate Next job lining the lower gunports. These were done as per instructions The fighting top was first stained with light oak and constructed as per instructions. I really like the marked planks The rest of the fighting tops will be made the same way Thanks for following Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Corel vasa , Santisima Trinadad X section , Vasa Next Build ? When sailors have good wine, They think themselves in heaven for the time. Thanks for all the brilliant comments guys A bit more work done on the vasa Some of the guns have had the tackles fitted and I have found out that the guns weren't fitted with Inhaul blocks. The guns were pulled backwards by unhooking one of the Inhaul tackle and hooking it up to a ring bolt behind the gun so I am planning on showing this on one of the guns. While I was waiting for the glue to dry I have made up some rams head blocks for the main yards hallards and foremast. The next job was fitting the little carvings that goes between the doors. The little blighters where painted as per instructions and glued into place. The decorations for the stem was also painted as per instructions, quite a fiddley job but turned out OK . The galleries where next on the list and what a pain in the butt they are to put together. The edges of the parts have to be as flat as possible for them to fit together and the castings can be a little rough so make sure they line up by filing them flat and checking that they fit perfectly. All the carvings where retrieved from the various stages and glued on. I was a bit concerned that there wasn't enough edge to glue them to the side of the hull so I glued some small balsa blocks to the inside of the gallery and filed them flat against the edge of the gallery then glued them in position with PVA and ca , there certainly not going to move now Now off to start the other side . Thanks for following Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Thanks for the comments guys Thanks Trev the chainlink is a bit fiddly to paint but it's raised up from the roof so not to bad All the guns have been rigged and glued in place on the deck . One of the guns has been pulled back to show how it was done with one of the outhaul tackle. The stern decorations have all been fitted a wow there are lots of them to do. One of the knights had two right arms so I made a left one out of a tooth pick. The bow was the next job. I noticed that the two bow doors had no ladders and the crew would have stepped out into midair so I looked at the real ship it has some steps coming out from the sides so I have copied them. Next job the cat heads these were fitted as per instructions. I have just started the chainwhales and making the dead eyes Till next time Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Corel vasa , Santisima Trinadad X section , Vasa Next Build ? When sailors have good wine, They think themselves in heaven for the time. John Baltharpe

Man, all painted up, she’s a riot of color, isn’t she? Your painting of all the figures is masterful. Simply beautiful.

Cheers for the feedback guys she is very bright . If she had got into battle the poor old crew of the enemy ship would have had to put on there sunglasses lol . I have also noticed that one of the knights looks like he's head butted a wall , definitely in need of a touch up Thanks again for the comments Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . That must have been an impressive sight to see the real ship under full sail. All that colour is mind blowing. Just goes to show how colourful the old days really were. You have done a very nice job painting up all of those tiny castings and getting it all together. Hope the next part of your build continues just as well for you. Tony Happy Modelling
