Malc Wow that is certainly a nice lot of detailed parts. Really good build diary as its giving some really good insight into just what you get in this kit. Hope it continues well for you. Tony Happy Modelling

Engine assembly underway. The manifold is a little awkward to position as there are no location features on the heads. All part of the fun. Malc.RM1 attached the following image(s):

Cylinder heads in place. I found the best way to position the two banks was to use the water pipe on top which has six legs that reach down and centralise the assembly. Malc.RM1 attached the following image(s):

Thanks for looking in guys and for the comments.
This car had a wooden floor and the kit supplies a PE sheet with some grain on the surface. I'm trying a light brown colour and maybe a bit of a darker wash. Not quite decided yet. Malc.RM1 attached the following image(s):

Malc Well that wood floor had me fooled. It looks just like a wood floor rather that a metal etch piece. Your the builder so you will know what works for you but if it was me i would go with the colour you gave as anything to dark will get even darker once the body work is all in place. At least with this colour it looks really good and you should be able to see it in the finished build. Tony Happy Modelling

Making nice progress with this Malc and looking good so far. Have you thought about buying some real wood veneer instead of painting the PE part, which could then be used as a cutting template?
Should be easily sourced on the internet and nothing looks more like real wood than … real wood! Per Ardua Ad Astra

Tony Thanks Tony. Good point you made about it being dark when enclosed by the body. Malc.

Hardwoods usually have much closer grains than softwoods Malc, and I'm sure you'll be able to find something in scale amongst those? Good luck with your search mate.
