Hi all Started on this kit the floor and cockpit have been prepped, undercoated and then top coated with Semi gloss black. The body shell has had the molding seams removed . One quirk of this kit is the adding of the rear wheel arch moldings and the spoiler molding along the inside edge. When the glue has cured more clean up around the arches will be needed. This looks great. I have a scratch 1/8 model I haven't touched for ages, but seeing yours, it makes me want to get on with it again...

Thanks for looking in and your comments everyone. No engine in this kit either kev but with the way its constructed the engine would not be visible and just the gearbox/final drive would be showing as per the kit. Its funny how some kit makers do put them in even though you will never see them on some kits Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Started to put the cockpit and lower chassis together the seat belts were made up and added to the seats before the seat assembly was glued in place along with various other parts. The wheels and knock offs were striped of there chrome and sprayed with Vallejo Liquid gold then two of them were sprayed with Alclad hot metal red and the remaining two with hot metal blue. The real car had different knock off threads on either side of the car so they were colour coded to prevent them getting mixed up. Forgot to add a picture of the kit box so here it is. arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

looking great. I wonder why none of the more recent kits of the gt40 had an engine? Its not hard to make the back section separate so you could pose it open and the engines of these cars were pretty cool looking

The big Trumpy 1/12 kit had an engine and all the bells and whistles, but goodness knows why it's now out of production.
This is looking really good though.

Thanks for looking in and your comments everyone @ Carl, Roy looking great. I wonder why none of the more recent kits of the gt40 had an engine? Its not hard to make the back section separate so you could pose it open and the engines of these cars were pretty cool looking. Fugimi actually milked this kit to death and certainly got top dollar from the molds by producing every GT40 car by colour and decals that they could bringing one out every few months or so. The main reason for no engine I think is the total redesign of the kit to produce a body shell that provides the access needed, Beemax did a good job of this on there Lancia kit in 1/24 so it is possible in this scale. I lost out on a Trumpy 1/12 kit not so long a go Roy and still looking for one Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

arpurchase wrote: I lost out on a Trumpy 1/12 kit not so long a go Roy and still looking for one yes they are going for over $300 on ebay over here and the reviews I read were pretty mixed.I tried a hobby store that is a treasure trove of OOP kits on Long Island but he didnt have any.Maybe it didnt sell well. They should have done it in the blue and orange color scheme.A guy that lives up the block from me has one parked in his driveway. He was a race car driver and I think he told me it was a real GT40 not a copy.I will have to see if he will let me take a closer look at it. The big Trumpy kit is really the wrong model for the blue/orange Gulf scheme but I still built mine in those colours... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Very nice Roy, do you know why there is a teardrop bulge on the top of the drivers door. Dan Gurney was tall for a racing driver so the bulge was added so he could fit his helmeted head into the car. So if your building a car that Dan Gurney did not drive the bulge should be removed. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
