I decided to extend the background colour for the swastika slightly, and then applied a couple of coats of Mr Hobby Clear over it to seal it. Very pleased with the result, but see for yourselves I will leave to thoroughly set before adding the decals to it next. While that is drying, on with the build... Hi Phil, yes could do, but they were only used for a short period of time, so i guess it would depend on what colour scheme i go for. we'll see

Issue 7:Gearbox for the Bow Anchors - Part 1. Pack contents: Lower half of gearbox housing, Upper half of gearbox housing, Cross shaft, 2x Anchor chain reels, Lengthwise shaft, 2x Anchor chains, 2x Anchor rings, 2x Anchor arms, 2x Anchor shafts. Take the cross shaft, two anchor chain wheels and both anchor chains.Place the ring on the chain over the hub of the wheel at one end of the cross shaft, so it is tight up against the hub. Fit one of the anchor chain reels so that it butts up against the hub and allows the chain to feed out of the notch in the reel, and does not tangle inside the drum. Repeat the process for the opposite side, making sure both of the 'openings' align - otherwise your anchor chains will be of differing lengths when fitted to the deck. Feed the two chains through the larger openings in the upper gearbox housing, and insert the cross shaft into the recess with the cog at the top if your chains point to the left. Build up the two anchors and insert the anchor rings through the eye of the shaft. Store any unused parts in a stage labelled bag. This completes Stage 7. Tony Tony, wait till you see the turret control mechanism Cheers Gray Gray Cannot wait to be honest (buttons, moving bits and flashing things - I will be in my element :-) I started to work on my build diary today but not sure if I should hold off until I get 11-14 as been hearing some more "horror stories" on deliveries. Also the first time looking at the Custom decals I purchased and 5 of them are damaged with ink smears would you believe. Affects 3 of the flags and 2 of the small Arado crosses. Have contacted the supplier to see what I can arrange in terms of replacements. Looking forward to seeing your next updates - been really interesting watching your build come together to date. Have to say I’m really impressed with mine Wait till you see them in situ Cheers Gray I had a set of the Peddinghaus but these are designed for Trumpeters kit so the red does not reach across the deck. Bought the next set from Custom Hobby Decals in Australia but apart from the briefest of looks never paid them much attention until today. Can maybe work from both sets and my fault for not checking sooner but will see what the manufacturer says. To me it looks like they go through some sort of printer and it looks like the machine had some stray ink that has mared the finish on a few of them. Tony Happy Modelling

From all the feedback i've seen, i would be very surprised if they didn't replace them. That would be my preference and i'm sure yours too. Cheers Gray

The Bow decals:As previously mentioned, I had decided to add a bit of authenticity to my build by adding the bow and stern swastikas. Having done a little research, I decided to purchase a set from Custom Hobby Decals, in Australia. They arrived in a little over a week, and i must say i was very pleased with them. Having measured the area of the decal to be used, i masked off and sprayed a couple of coats of Tamiya's White fine surface primer. Next i added that glorious red colour When dry, I then gave it a couple of coats of Mr Hobby Clear and left that to dry for 24 hours. Using Micro Set and a few coats of Micro Sol i then applied the decal. Once thoroughly dry, i gave it a few more coats of Clear. Here is the result Now back to the build....
