Hi all ~ So far I reached issue 65 which sees adding studding sail booms to the main yard. I strongly believe that the assembly guide is wrong as it calls for creating the 180mm main lower studding sail booms, as printed on the back of the mast plan (issue 62), bottom left. I think, if the terminology is correct in the assembly guide (on the mast plan), that we should use the 135mm main topmast studding sail boom, printed on the bottom right.

At least this is how AOTS names the studding sail booms on the main yard.

The one on the left was projecting below the main sail, maybe at quarterdeck level. It carried the main lower studding sail, which I've heard was called main water sail as well (although it is hard to believe that they set sails on either side of the hull ... and there should have been another set of booms beneath them).

Then, issue 65, page 13, image 5: the booms are extending too much from the main yard for my liking (when comparing this to the actual ship), hence I think using the shorter ones.

Please don't get me wrong, it's just the naming of those booms causing the confusion. I can use whatever dowel I like for my model.

Any thoughts?

Happy modelling ~ Daytona!

EDIT: I asked DA Germany and they promised to ask DA UK, which could be difficult because of the holiday situation etc. I just wanted to ask around here in order for the experts to tell me whether I'm totally nuts or not.
