I have been taking my time and getting the hull framework sorted, to gather with the two lower decks. I also went over the top a little and planked the upper deck where the entrance ports are. Just need to varnish this bit then on to fairing the hull. I will take my time but wish me luck! I also built up the first launch and the anchor. Cheers Gray Hi Gray, no , they were strips that were left over from a previous build and decided to go "over the top" with them. I will run some varnish over them once I have marked some lateral joints by pencil line.

Well, it's been raining on and off all day today and I had big plans to take the hull into the garden for some fairing work to begin. My alternative plan of sanding it in the kitchen with the vacuum cleaner sucking up any dust did not, amazingly, go down too well with my wife! But, having looked at the upper deck planking that I did previously, I decided that the original planks were too wide. So I covered it using 3mm wide mahogany strips from a previous build. I also added caulking lines on the planks but they are not too clear from this photo. All I have to do now is decide how long each individual plank should be marked at for realism. I appreciate that these planks will hardly be visible but I am trying to fill my modelling time efficiently. Any thoughts would be appreciated. goddo attached the following image(s):

Started the fairing of the hull and attached a few pics of progress. I've only really worked my way around the bows, concentrating on the areas at decks level. I've used some old plastic storage pots to support the hull upside down rather than stand on the legs of the bulkheads which are a bit flimsy. I have also been adding strips of wood to the edges of frames 15 and 16 to build them up a bit. More strips still to be added particularly near the keel section.

BTW, I found this to be a useful little contraption which was fairly cheap and easy to knock up.

It was simple to make (if I could make it, anyone can) and ideal for both planking and tiling later on.
The only critical measurement is the one between the two frames that are secured by the bolts. One of the other members here helped out with the sizes as I was in the UK at the time.
