Looks great. You dont need a 3d printer with your scratchbuilding skills make!! I was talking with a friend the other day about the worst kits we have ever built and he was talking about the airfix car kits and how bad they were.He sent me a pic of a car kit that he stabbed with a knife because he got so frustrated with it I am sure you will coax a stunner out of this kit like you did with the podracer. A little more done to the car. I have mixed up a base coat for the main body colour and sprayed painted it and left to dry for a for a few days. Once the gloss varnish has been applied then the blue will look deeper and darker, I think the colour should be about right when finished. I did varnish the inside of the engine compartment, just a quick spray as it is never as shiner inside as the main body anyway. I then painted the underside of the car, painted the framework black and painted the gearbox silver. I then set to on the engine fixing it in place and adding some more detail to the engine compartment. I added the detail to the bonnet with the silver and red triumph badge and lettering. I glued the inner body parts together along with the engine block. As you can see, I had to use plenty of clamps as the body was slightly warped and they were needed to straighten it out. Told you it was a bad kit. Once all fixed and glued, I added some extra cables and bottles to the engine compartment. The last couple of pictures are the main body fitted on as a test fit, work needed there. The final picture shows some material I have to make the convertible roof, once I’ve made the frame, which is pretty much the same colour as the original car. The roof however will be in the down position. Next, I will be painting the dashboard which has already has the base white coat and allowed to dry before painting the wood effect using water colour pencils and translucent paints. Thanks for looking, more soon Mark Markwarren attached the following image(s):

Many thanks for your comments Andy. This time I have painted the dashboard. The one that was in the car was quite a light wood with yellow undertones. I first primed and painted the part white. I then used water colour pencils, yellow, light brown, and a red brown. Using plenty of water, get the colour and effect you are happy with and allow to dry for a day. The next step was to spray a thinned down Tamiya clear yellow, again allow to dry before spraying Tamiya clear orange. Again, allow these to dry. I then spayed gloss varnish over the whole piece and applied the decals I got from slot cars. Once these were dry, it had a good coating of gloss varnish again. I then painted the edging and ventilation vents black, and some of the knobs chrome. The pictures don’t really do it any justice as it doesn’t show the high gloss of the wooden part very well. the very last picture show how small this was, a very good magnifying glass was used in this exercise. More soon. Mark Markwarren attached the following image(s):

A little more done this evening. I have placed the chrome strips on the side of the car using some silver tape, thinly cut and carefully placed. The last picture is with the bonnet attached. The chrome badge is blued out as you can see, as I gave the bonnet another coat of blue paint, so this will have to be painted again. The next step is to place all the chrome fitting such as the handles and the lights before I give the body a high gloss coat. More soon. Mark Markwarren attached the following image(s):
