wow thanks for the feedback guys Hi Alan ,Oooh lining gunports one of my favourite jobs it's really nice to get all the decorations installed that I have been painting over the past few months and keeping in a safe place A bit of a heads up the dead eyes have wire wrapped round them and even glued with ca they tend to slip out so I have used a square needle file to make a grove around the outside and this has stopped it happening Cheers for following Martyn Building ? Hi peps a bit more done on my Vasa . All the guns and rope coils have been fitted and the bowsprit and masts stepped. I have also made the shot boxes as these would be a pain to fit after the shrouds are done . Looking at the 1/10 model I noticed that it had curved rails at the ends so I got the plank bender out and made some up next job fitting the decorations to the bow and wow this ship is really getting heavy and still some to go . Now the fun starts rigging. The stays where the first. The lower ones where fitted as per instructions but the upper ones have been changed with blocks tied to them . There is a bit of a debate on whether they were adjusted from the decks or from the tops so I went with the tops as it less rope on the deck . The shrouds have now been started and these are done in pairs as per the real ship. They alternate from port to starboard and from bow to stern and served at the top More soon Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Looking great Martin, your build is really good. As for the kit i notice some ply is visible in places which is a bit of a shame. The deadeyes look to be ply too? If so not seen that before Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Hi jase thanks for the comments m8 . Your right about the ply showing in places and also the dead eyes are made of ply which is a bit of a pity as they would have been better in wood but hayho. I have tried to blend the colour of edge with stain but sometimes it just doesn't cover very well . One more little niggle there is no rigging plan on paper like the Soleil which makes rigging a real pain as you can't tick them off so I am going with my rigging period ships book and the Vasa 1 book . After saying all that I love this ship Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Martyn Its looking really nice. The more i see of this one the more its growing on me. Unless something else catches my eye it might just be one i go for when my porsche sub. Finishes (just 2 more packs on that). Trouble is putting things off for too long you end up missing out as the kit goes out of production. Hope it all continues well. Tony Happy Modelling

Thanks for the feedback guys . I have just started putting on the rat lines and glued on the carvings . I have just found out that the Vasa was not fitted with pinrails on the side rails but on the hand rails so they will have to be removed and the rails drilled to take the belay pins Thanks for looking Martyn Martyn Ingram attached the following image(s): Building ?
