Pack 1 – Stages 1 - 4

Stage 1 - Bonnet and Supercharger

In this stage you will assemble the bonnet with the impressive supercharger in the middle, one of the most distinctive and characteristic elements of the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. Using the instructions as a guide, ensure you can identify all the components supplied with this stage together with their designated part numbers.

Tip
– When handling the body parts, it is a good idea to take a few small precautions to protect the paintwork from scratches. We recommend you prepare a clean work area and that you work on a cloth or sheet of cardboard to protect the pieces against damage.

Secure the bonnet and the reinforcement panel together with 9 type AM screws.

Now join the Butterfly valve plate shaft base plate and the air intake together security with 2 type BP screws.

Mount the throttle plates onto the linchpins on the plate shaft, ensuring the arrows on the plates all point in the same direction, as shown in step 1.3 of the instructions. Ease the plate shaft onto the air intake, using the side grooves on the latter and ensuring the arrows all point towards the front of the air intake.

Join the lower half of the air intake and the injector plate together, as shown in step 1.5 of the instructions. Secure with four type AP screws. Now turn the assembly over and place it over the upper half of the air intake, securing all the pieces together with four type AP screws. Attach the right mount to the end of the butterfly valve plate shaft on the right-hand side of the air intake. Hold the right mount in place and attach the left mount to the lever on the other end of the throttle body shaft.

Attach the fuel distributor to the back of the injector plate using a type AP screw. Then using two type AP screws, join the pulley spacer and the cover of the supercharger unit. Place the bracket and the front cover of the supercharger together, ensuring that the pieces are facing the same way as that shown in step 1.11 of the instructions, secure together with two type AP screws. Now insert the two flat prongs of the bracket into the front opening of the supercharger and fix in place with two type AP screws.

Slide the supercharger pulley onto the linchpin of the spacer, ensuring the pieces are facing the same way as shown in step 1.13 of the instructions, secure in place with a type AP screw. Finally, press the injector plate down onto the supercharger unit.

Stage 1 complete. Carefully store the assemblies and any unused parts in a stage labelled bag until needed.

Stage 2 – In this stage, the steering wheel, and the left front tire are assembled.

Attach the steering wheel spokes 2D to the outer part of the steering wheel 2A, by aligning the four mounting holes and inserting four BM type screws.

Insert the cylindrical end of the steering column 2C into the middle of the steering wheel). Use a CM type screw to fix it in place. Insert it into the hole in the middle of the steering wheel and fully tighten the screw

Attach the steering wheel hub cover onto the centre of the spokes by pressing it, ensuring that it is facing the same way as shown in the illustration.

Look at the front left tyre: on one side you will see the word “inside” written, and on the other, the word “outside”. Insert the tyre valve 2G into the outside rim and then put the rim into the outside of the tire. Then put the inside rim into the inside of the tire. Match the holes and mounting linchpins.

Insert three HM type screws into the holes in the inside of the rim. Tighten the screws to join the two parts of the rim.

Place the washer 2I in the middle of the outside of the rim. Then put the hub cover over the washer. This part simply attaches by firmly pressing it into place.(Do not mount it permanently for the time being.)

The result of your second assembly session is the steering wheel and front left wheel of your Dodge Charger R/T!

Stage 2 complete. Carefully store the assemblies and any unused parts in a stage labelled bag until needed.

Stage 3 – Nose with Grille and Front Headlamps

In this stage you can start assembling the front clip of your Dodge Charger R/T.

Using the instructions as a guide, ensure you can identify all the components supplied with this stage together with their designated part numbers.

Working on the inner side of the front upper panel, mount the pieces of the front left headlamps in the order of, frame two glass covers (the linchpins on the frame must match up with the corresponding holes in the glass covers) and the front headlamp unit. Attach the completed headlamps to the panel with two type BP screws. Repeat the process for the front right headlamps.

Insert the grille into the middle of the outside of the front upper panel. From the other side, insert and tighten with two type AP screws.

Take the R/T emblem and gently push it into the holes in the outside of the radiator grille.

Put the chromed profile, the radiator grille and the front upper panel together. Once you are sure all the pieces are facing the correct way, join them together with eight type AP screws.

Insert the indicator frame, the glass cover and the respective indicator unit into the left hole in the front lower panel. Fix in place with two type DM screws. Repeat the process for the right side, securing with two type DM screws.

Put the front lower panel and the upper panel together, ensuring that the assembly holes match up. Secure with four type CP screws.

Stage 3 complete. Carefully store the assembly and any unused parts in a stage labelled bag until needed.

Stage 4 – Front Left Brake and Suspension

You can now make the brake disc and attach the wheel to elements of the suspension. Using the instructions as a guide, ensure you can identify all the components supplied with this stage together with their designated part numbers.

Fit the parts of the brake disc together by inserting the linchpins into the corresponding holes, as shown in step 4.1 of the instructions. Now fit the wheel hub and the convex side of the brake disc together by inserting the centering linchpin into the small hole in the brake disc. Insert two CM type screws from the convex side of the brake disc to secure.

Insert the axle spindle into the hole in the middle of the brake caliper base plate and secure with two type CM screws. Now insert the axle spindle into the hole in the brake disc. Slide the brake caliper onto the disc and the spindle and fix in place with two type CM screws.

Attach the upper part of the shock absorber to the inside of the suspension dome using an EM type screw. Align the upper suspension arm with the corresponding holes in the side of the dome, ensuring that the pieces are facing the same way as shown in step 4.6 of the instructions. Fix the arm in place with two type FM screws.

Insert the fixing linchpin on the disc into the hole on the upper part of the lower arm. Insert the eye of the shock absorber piston into the slot on the lower arm, aligning the eye with the hole closest to the disc and fix in place with a type FM screw. In the same slot on the lower arm, arrange piece 2 of the ball joint with the cylindrical end facing downwards and fix in place with a type FM screw. Slide piece 2 of the spindle onto the end of the ball joint you have just fixed in place. Use a type EM screw to assemble these pieces.

Put the completed suspension and brake together. Use two type CM screws to join piece 2 and piece 1 of the spindle. Insert piece 1 of the ball joint into the corresponding holes in the upper arm. Now align it with the wishbone of piece 1 of the spindle. Join everything together with one type GM screw. Now slide the shock absorber piston onto the upper part of the shock absorber unit.

Slide the front left wheel onto the axle spindle, then remove the hub cover and washer. Insert a type IM screw into the washer and attach the wheel to the axle spindle. Finally put the hub cover back on.

Stage 4 complete. Carefully store the assembly and any unused parts in a stage labelled bag until needed.
