I have now finished the chrome strips along the main body of the car. I have also attached the door and bonnet catches, painted and attached the rear and side lighting as well as painting the Triumph logos.
I then sprayed three coats of diamond varnish and left for several days to dry, very pleased with the results. Unfortunately, the photos really don’t do the shine any justice.

Now to paint the chrome bumpers and wheels before attending to the internal parts.

Thanks for looking.

A little more done. I have painted the seats and door panels and given them a light wash to highlight areas. The underside of the back seat was painted black as this is part of the rear wheel arch. These were then glued into place on both the upper and lower parts of the car. The main body frame had to be pulled in as it was quite warped to fit the door panels. I have also temporarily placed the dashboard in, this still needs to have the steering wheel attached.
I have also painted the internal flooring a mottled blue effect to represent blue carpet, this was done before attaching the front seats.

The next set of photos are the chrome parts of the car. I have used Alclad chrome paint. The parts were primed then painted with the Alclad black undercoat, which you give several light coats and make sure you get a good shine. These were left to dry for three days before carefully applying the chrome paint. The pictures don’t really do the chrome any justice but I was very happy with the result.

More soon.

It's quite astounding how good you are making this little old kit turn out.
The ancient Airfix cars are notorious for being awful kits by modern standards but you are really shaking this one into shape.

Thank you Alan Blushing

Time to fit the body to the chassis. This was not easy as the whole thing was slightly warped and took a lot to fit. I also fitted the wheels, along with the luggage rack I made. I found a picture of a roof cover, full size, on eBay and used it as a template. This was then fitted as shown. Still quite a bit of work to do, the windscreen, exhausts which will be altered from the supplied pieces and the steering wheel which gets the same treatment as the dash.

Thanks for looking.

That is brilliant.
It looks a lot bigger than 1/32. You've really made a lovely model there.

Time to finish off all the detail on the car, which I have deliberated on how much to do. The exhausts were the first to be done, having altered the original parts to have the end pipes look like open exhausts, as oppose to the solid plastic. I sprayed the parts silver and used very small shrink tubing for the ends and painted them chrome as in the original car. I have also finished off the steering wheel as shown. The underside of the exhaust system will be weathered down slightly to make it look like a used pipe.

Here, I deliberated about how I was going to do the windscreen. I masked off the inner screen and airbrushed the outer rim blue and allowed to dry. The original car had a rubber seal with a chrome inset, but I am dealing with a 1/32 scale which is a little over 2cm in length. After taking the masking off once dry, it just needed something to lift it, painting the black and chrome was not an option as you would never get the right effect.
I considered using some rubber, cut finely to be placed around the screen, but it was so fine you would never be able to paint the chrome through the centre.
I then experimented with some heat shrink tubing and a liquid chrome pen I had bought. I used a ruler and drew the chrome onto the rubber using the pen. The pen draws a line 1mm thick, again too large for the car. I drew the chrome line and cut the heat shrink tubing as shown, and against the windscreen to show how large the strip was. I then used a candle to heat the tubing and stretch it small enough to the correct size, thus reducing the chrome strip at the same time.

This was carefully glued around the screen as shown. I then varnished the outer blue and I was very happy with the result. There is still some work to do on the screen, the aluminium top, sun visors and windscreen wipers. I will also be making some wing mirrors that does not come with the kit. i have also taken off the bonnet and replaced it once filed down as it did not fit right.Cursing The last two pictures show the windscreen temporarily in place.

Thanks for looking.Cool
