I'm still working on my lightweight E Type but I have recently had an urge to build something totally different. I even looked at the Airfix current catalogue of aircraft and believe it or not - military machinery...!!! Anyway, I went digging through my stash - which is small by many standards, but still contains some 40-50 kits. Then I spotted the Nautilus. A kit I bought from an INCREDIBLE model shop in Hyannis, USA, some 6-7 years ago while on holiday in Cape Cod. I don't remember the name of the store, but I recall it was just around the corner from the hotel we were staying in - The Cape Codder. Even better still, it was literally NEXT to a huge wine/booze/plonk store...!!! Anyway, I bought numerous model kits in there for PEANUTS compared to UK prices, various 'N' gauge loco's and bits for my son, and about a kilo's worth of 1/64 scale die-cast American cars we don't get in the UK. Sadly, I passed on the simple Chrysler Atlantic kit purely because I just couldn't fit any more kit boxes in my luggage. I digress... The Nautilus. I've Googles some other builds and I'm contemplating being able to 'somehow' take one half of the main shell off, to reveal an insanely detailed (and made-up) interior of the bulk of the sub. Now, this is not a large model so it will be fun to try to make stuff to put inside, at 144th scale. Any thoughts please, anyone...? roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Great idea Roy. I know paragrafix makes a photoetched set and Aztec dummies makes masks for the windows and Voodoofx makes a lighting kit.
Maybe you could cut the hull so there are removable panels you could pull off to reveal the details. One for the cabin and one for the engine bay etc....

That's what I was thinking... But I'm contemplating an entire side removal, showing half a dozen different rooms/cabins etc, and the engine room...

Thanks Derek.
I've already Googled umpteen interior images of the Nautilus. OK, they aren't all from the same person as it's a fantasy thing and there aren't any 'proper' interior plans. So - my take on it will be my interpretation of what I can find...
Roy.
