A bit more Aston...

Once the rear cage had been added, I needed to make the front chassis.
Again, this was made primarily from brass section all Araldited together.
It was fixed into the front of the car and then the engine firewall could be attended to.

The radiator and header tank was then made and fitted, to make way for the engine later on.

A bit more here.

The main engine block was installed into the front frame and the cylinder head, carbs and exhaust manifold were built up 'out' of the car for ease of detailing the parts.
Once it was reasonably ready, the head was fitted to the engine block.

Thanks Malc.

The manifolds are made from old microphone cable with the core pulled out, then copper earth wire from 32A mains cable pushed in. You can then bend it to any shape you want.

The rubber cuts to shape easily and glues very well using Cyano.
Weld lines are added using a stained glass window pen then all sprayed satin black.

Wheels any tyres were the next order of the day.
My wheels on this car were made in the old method of nylon fishing line laced tightly around resin cast hubs and rims, outer rims glued in plae and then all painted silver.
The tyres were cast in resin using a 1/8 model kit tyre as a master, to create a rubber mould.

All the trailing arms etc were made and fitted before the wheels could be added.
You might notice that I always flatten the bottoms of my tyres to make the car sit more realistically.

I made the seats from sheet plastic and thin sponge. The fabric pattern was drawn up in Photoshop and printed onto thin cotton using an inkjet printer. The pattern is correct - I copied it from a superb close up picture of the real car.

Finally, decals were printed and added and a windscreen made from clear plastic sheet

It was a long build - easily over 6 months, between 4-8 hours almost every day.
The model now sits in Fiskens classic car showroom in Kensington, along with 4 other models I made for them.

Many thanks you chaps.
I haven't done a full scratch build for a few years. Maybe I need to give something a bit of thought.
Possibly a streamline lightweight E Type, or a mid '50's Ferrari.
