I am looking for a bit off advise and any help would be much appreciated

I purchased a plastic model ship and decided to get the after market bits including the wooden deck and some PE

Main reason was that if I painted the deck it would look like a plastic deck painted a brownish colourCrying

Anyhoos not being familiar with PE I thought I would start with an easy?? bit, but I am struggling alreadyCrying

There are several watertight doors on a bulkhead which is hidden from sight unless you peered down the inside with a torch and a pair of binoculars, so that seemed like a good place to start/practise

I have removed these doors as per instructions and have a nice flat surface to fit the PE doors

Problem is I thought the PE would be 1 piece but it is actually made up of 3 parts and there is no instructions for these

Which probably means this is so straight forward therefore no instruction required
Obviously doesn't cater for thickos like me thenFlapper

I am not sure if

1. do I use all 3 parts 1 on top of the other
2. stick the first and 3rd part together only
3.only use the 3rd part
4.stick 1st and 2nd part together and 3rd part used for leaving the door open

Crying is there a guide for dummiesCrying

Hi

I think you are supposed to leave all 3 door parts as 1 etch piece and fold them.

No major harm done as you can glue the 3 parts you have cut but that does make hard work for yourself.

Looking at the parts i think you would fold the 2 door sides back to back so both faces have the etched detail. You are then left with the door attached to the frame and can decide to close the door or leave it open.

Yes, fold the three parts in a 'Z' fashion.
That way, you get a double thickness door with a frame on one side.

BigGrin Thanks Guys
Kerching !! the penny's dropped (at last)

parts 2 and 3 get joined back to back as thats the front and back of the door

the frame can be attached to the bulkhead and the bulkhead inside of the frame could be cut away to see inside if required with the door left open.
Should bend as 1 piece
Doh silly me.
Thanks again will post a pic when I get that done over the weekend

Just a word of warning. You dont get many chances at bending PE parts. If you try to bend them too many times they will break apart. You can anneal the PE parts by heating them with a cigarette lighter. That makes the metal less brittle.

I’m going to venture a guess that the hatch is folded back to back, which will result in a hatch with detail on both sides. Then, with the hatch frame, you can pose the hatch in any position from open to closed that you’d like.
