Now it's time to start working on the internal details. I'm starting with the aft torpedo compartment which requires lots of scratch building and will take several weeks.

The first job was to study photos of the real compartment on U995. This took a whole evening as I familiarised myself with all the equipment.

I started with making the rear torpedo tube and door. The aluminium tube was a left over piece after i finished installing the torpedo tubes in the bow back in 2016.

The door was made up of several layers of plastic sheet, glued together and a whole drilled through so I could fit a shaft. See attached photo.

The shaft allowed me to fit it to the chuck on the Dremel, itself being mounted in a mini vice, so I could use it like a lathe.

I could then shape the torpedo tube rear door to a profile using files and sand paper while it span around in the chuck.

The next job was to make the hinges. I used plastic rod and sheet off cuts to fashion the shapes.
