Quite a horror show tbh with the damage....
Ive cut away all the bits a the forward bulkhead is exposed without any bow formers showing..

Sorry Del but i will require entire new bow formers as some of the replacements where damaged and the slotted parts into the forward bulk head where in the slots so i had to cut thecout carefully with the scalpel tedious but had to be done......

So bow formers 8, 9 10, 11, 11a are required if its not possible then i may have to find some balsa sheet and carefully cut them out.....

Im now working out where to cutting planking as the top row ends at rib
17....

The split i thought that ran down the front bulk head turned out to be a pencil mark....must get my eyes tested....

I have removed the first plank on both sides as it goes back to rib 17 and i have taped up the area where plank 17 was to protect the decking edge and the other exposed ribs also i have taped where i intend to stop.....

I have marked the rib 17s to where the planks butt up and im going to try and removed them carefully with my scalpel....

I have located a dealer that sells 4mm balsa sheets and balsa blocks and will use the sheets to fabricate the bow formers....

So im going to start to remove these planks carefully...

Well that worked out better than i orignally thought...

As you can see ive worked to the staggered plank system and dont really want to cut more off....
Just the other side to work on now.....

Hi Ant,

First an apology as I'm having to view this on my phone. My broadband crashed yesterday and is still awaiting a fix.

Looks like things are improving but fear that 4mm balsa will not have the required strength or be dense enough to take the bow planking. Personally I would use ply as per the original parts.

Bow Former 8 - Issue 1
Bow Former 9 - Issue 3
Bow formers 10, 11 and 11a - Issue 4.

This can also be verified via the Official Build:

Hope this helps.

I have managed to get my hands on bow formers 10, 11, 11a.

I still have the reminants of bow former 9 and seeing that ive ordered a sheet of birch ply i will try and mark and cut out the bow formers number 9.

The cutting will have to be done by hand as i dont have the luxury of power tools to do the job.....

Hi Ant

Got my broadband back todayBlink Blink

So good to see you are getting the parts together and luckily formers 9 look to be the easier ones to replicate.

Good luck

All forward bow formers have be made and sanded.
The spare front bulk head came in handy to test if they fitted or not and they look good.....

Going to fit them on lto the ships frame and if they look ok glue them....

Down side is Angry
Ive been checking the planking that i already did on the sides and tbh i think im going to hit a tricky patch....
I have some plank off cuts so ive been slotting them into the areas i cut out and it seems the planks i have are slightly wider.
So do i sand the plank edge to fit or do i remove more planking right back on both sides to the stern...

Im going to have to have a major rethink Confused on this.......

Dropping the ship as caused more pronlems than first thought.....

Hi Ant, BigGrin

The front planking is not a problem that can`t be solved, but to get the best advise to help, you really need to post some pics. People can`t see what you see without them and that makes any advise guesswork at best.
