Stage 122 Contents: Chainwales, Wooden Strips and Decorations.
Retrieve the cannon parts from stage 9. Cut the metal rod into three pieces, 7, 10 and 11mm long. Now glue the three rods onto the carriage at the positions shown in step 3 of the instructions. Glue the four wheels onto the ends of the axles, and then paint the three pieces of rod to match the carriage. Glue the cannon onto the carriage and when dry, glue the two brackets over the bars at the sides of the cannon and paint them black (RAL9004). Now glue one of e breechings prepared in stage 85, onto the back of the carriage. Take two of the gun tackles from stage 85 and cut one eyebolt of each to 1.5mm long. Drill a 0.4mm hole in either side of the carriage at the points shown in step 10 of the instructions and glue the shortened eyebolts of the gun tackles into the holes. Repeat these step will all of the long cannons. There should be eight in total.
Retrieve the cannon parts from stage 2. Cut one of the wooden dowels into two pieces, 15 and 16mm long and glue them to the bottom of the carriage. Glue the four wheels to the ends of the axles and paint the axles to match the rest of the carriage. Glue the cannon into place, with the handles facing upwards then glue two brackets over the bars at the sides of the cannon and paint them black. Cut one of the breechings in half and glue the ends of the halves into the holes in the sides of the carriage. Drill a 0.4mm hole in each side of the carriage as shown in step 22 of the instructions. Cut one of the eyebolts on each of two of the gun tackles to 1.5mm long and glue the shortened eyebolts into the holes you just drilled. Repeat these steps to create a total of six of these cannons.
Remove any burrs or flash from decorations 172, then apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry. Now follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint all these decorations. Hold one of the decorations on the port side of the hull, over the raised strakes between the fifth and sixth gun ports. Draw around the decoration then cut away the section of strakes where the decoration will be fitted. Then smooth the ends of the strips and repaint or stain them. Now glue one of the decorations into place. Use groove ‘C’ of the tool supplied with stage 57, to shape five 2x3mm wooden strips from stage 121. Note, the groove being created lies closer to the upper edge of the strip, it does not run down the centre. Paint the strips yellow (RAL1023). Glue one of the strips to the port bulwark along the line where the red and stained areas meet, from the decoration forward, with the groove facing out and closest to the top of the bulwark. Cut off the excess at the front of the strip and then paint the end yellow. Glue another yellow strip from the decoration going aft. Make sure it’s flush with either the gunwale or the line where the paints meet. Take a third yellow strip and bevel one end of it. Paint the cut yellow then place the beveled end of the strip up against the forward edge of the upper gallery, mark the point where it overlaps the previous strip fitted. Cut the strip to length and glue it into place, completing the row. If necessary, apply a little putty to the joins and retouch the paint. Repeat these steps on the starboard side.
Take one of the short cannons and place it on the deck at the bow, 36mm in from the edge of the bulwark. Push the barrel up against the bulwark and mark where the top centre of it is and another mark at the side. Take the cannon away and draw crossed lines from the two marks. Drill a 1mm hole through the middle of the cross, then cut a space in the raised yellow strake, 10.5mm wide, centered over the hole. Now enlarge the 1mm hole to 6mm, repaint the area if necessary then paint the inside of the hole red. Draw a 10mm square around the hole on the inside of the bulwark, then paint this square with the brown paint used on the hull. (I chose to paint the same colour as the frame uprights). Drill four 0.4mm holes in the bulwark at the points shown in step 45 of the instructions, the holes should be about 1mm deep.
Retrieve the cannon, cut the shanks of the outer eyebolts to around 1.5mm in length. Place the cannon onto the deck and push it through the hole in the bulwark. Glue the wheels to the deck. Now glue the eyebolts at the ends of the breechings into the two lower holes. Finally, glue the eyebolts at the ends of the tackles into the two upper holes.
Store any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Stage 123 Contents: Chainplates, Brass Wire, Gun Port Decoration and Nails.
Remove any burrs or flash from the gun port decorations received with this stage, and then apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry. Now follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint these decorations.
Glue one of the decorations over the gun port created in the previous stage. Now fit the next two cannons onto the port side of the foredeck. Going aft from the cannon you fitted in stage 122, follow the process shown in that stage and fit first a long cannon and then a short cannon, positioned at the distances shown in the instructions. Once the cannons and rigging are in place, glue the gun port decorations onto the bulwark. Fit the first three cannons to the starboard side of the deck in the same way, remembering to fit the gun port decorations on the outside of the bulwark.
Following the steps outlined in stage 122, create four more gun ports on each side of the deck, aft of the waist. Make sure you create the centers of the ports at the distances shown in step 10 of the instructions. Fit the eight cannons into position, four on each side, with a long cannon first, then a short cannon then two more long cannons. Fit the rigging to the cannons then glue the gun port decorations in place onto the bulwark over each port.
Remove the two chainwales CW2 from the fret supplied with stage 122. On each one, draw a notch 7.5mm in from the two notches near the narrow end, then cut out the notches. Remove the two chainwales CW1 from the fret and mark the notches on each piece, as shown in step 14 of the instructions, then cut out the notches.
Separate all the chainplates CWS1, CW2 and CWS3 from the sprue supplied with this stage. Take a chainplate CWS1 and bend the two ends to match that shown in step 16 of the instructions. Now turn the 4mm section through 90 degrees it is at a right angle to the rest of the plate. Prepare 24 chainplates CW1 in the same way.
Cut a 30mm long piece of the 0.5mm brass wire supplied with this stage, and then fold it in half around round-nosed pliers. Cross the two ends of the wire over, now turn the wire to the side and bend one half back over. Then do the same with the other side of the wire. Insert the wire through the bent end of chainplate CWS1 and close the loop in the wire above the plate. Retrieve one of the deadeyes DE1 supplied with stage 120. Wrap the ends of the wire around the deadeye, crossing them over. Cut way the excess wire at each end. Apply drops of glue around the deadeye and glue the wire to the deadeye. Repeat these steps with 18 deadeyes DE1 and chainplates CWS1. Paint or stain the deadeyes brown and once dry, paint the chainplate and wire black. Now paint the other six chainplates CWS1 black.
Hold a chainwale CW2 against the port side of the hull as shown in step 27 of the instructions, ensuring the thinner end is aft. The chainwale should be against the raised strake and you may need to shape the inner edge to the shape of the hull. Retrieve a 2x2mm wooden strip from stage 122 and glue it along the outer edge of the chainwale. Make sure you don’t block the holes with glue. Trim and shape the ends of the strip to fit then sand the assembly and paint or stain to match the hull. Glue the chainwale into place.
Insert twelve chainplates CWS1 into the holes in the chainwale (Do not glue them). Nine of them with deadeyes and three without, as shown in step 30 of the instructions. Use the nails received with this stage to secure the ends of the chainplates to the hull. Touch up any paint that has been damages during the installation of the chainwale and plates and paint the nails black. Now follow the same process to fit the other chainwale CW2 to the starboard side.
Store any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

That`s some amazingly delicate brass work there Alan, WTG and the first time I recall seeing the different calibre guns next to each other like that shown. Another amazing update of the detail in this build. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
