Issue/Stage 26 Contains – Fission Chamber Upper Half, Alluvial Damper, Turbo Generator Body, Fission Chamber Mounting, Turbo Generator Rear Cone, Hydraulic Adjusters (X2), Turbo Impeller Blades (X2), Turbo Impeller.

Assembling the Engine

Take the assembly from stage 25, together with the alluvial damper and two hydraulic adjusters. Push the alluvial damper, which has a mounting hole, into the projecting pin from the engine casing. Align the two pins on one of the hydraulic adjusters, noting which way around they go and fit in place as shown.
Take the remaining parts provided and fit the rear cone to the turbo generator body. Line up the notch with the projecting lug and push firmly in place. Align the two pins on the turbo impeller with the matching holes in the turbo generator and fit in place. Fit both the impeller blades into the two rectangular sockets as shown.
Next fit the turbo generator into the fission chamber fitting the pin into the keyhole shaped mounting. Press firmly into place.
Finally, fit the two pins on the fission chamber mounting into the matching holes in the collar on the fission chamber.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 27 Contains – Lower Engine Casing, Thrust Nozzle, Locking Collar, Engine LED, Reflector, Lens, Thrust Diffuser, Plant-on Detail (X7)

Assembling the Engine

Take the sub-assemblies from stage 25 and 26, together with all the parts provided this time. Fit the four pins on the thrust diffuser onto the holes in the lens. Note, one pin is smaller that the others, so it only fits in place as shown. Align the assembly with the thrust nozzle, matching up the notch in the lens with the internal rib on the nozzle. Fit the lens in place and press it in as far as possible.

Uncoil the lead attached to the LED and fit the tip into the hole in the reflector, making sure it comes through on the other side. Carefully bend the wire down so that it follows the curve of the reflector on the side opposite to the notch on the rim of the reflector. Fit the plug through the hole from the assembly from stage 25, pulling the lead through inside the engine detail towards the second hole at the rear as shown. Feed the wire through until the reflector is in the correct position.
Feed the plug through the hole in the lower engine casing provided in this stage and carefully line up the two mounting posts on the engine detail with the pins on the casing, making sure you do not trap the cable. Press firmly into place. Attach the curved end of the reflector onto the slot in the casing with the notch on the reflector facing up.
Line up the two halves of the engine and fit them together, making sure that the reflector goes onto the slot in the other half of the engine casing.

Press the thrust nozzle all the way onto the assembly making sure that the notch and rib line up. Fit the locking collar over the end of the engine, with its tapered end outwards.

Take the battery box you used in previous tests and plug in the lead from the engine LED. The light should come on, filling the diffuser with a red glow.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 28 Contains – Internal Bulkhead, Dark Grey Pipe, Plant-on Detail (X4), Inner Wing Frame, Silver Pipework Detail (X8), Engine Mount Brace (Large), Engine Mount Brace (Small), Laser canon Cable, XW02 Screws (X14), XW03 Screws (x5), XW04 Screws (X6), XW05 Screws (X5).

Assembling the Wing

Take the Inner wing frame and the two engine mounts provided this time, plus the wing assembly from stages 22 and 24. Align the wing and the engine mount as shown and fit the parts together so that the five holes indicated line up with the lugs on the engine mount. Fix the parts together with XW02 screws in all five holes. Align the smaller engine mount brace with the assembly along with the inner wing frame and lager engine mount brace and fit it as shown. Secure the smaller brace with XW02 screws in the two holes indicated, then secure the larger brace with XW02 screws in the two holes as shown, followed by these four holes as shown in the next picture.

Drive XW04 screws through the holes in the larger engine brace and the inner wing frame. Use more XW04 screws to secure the inner wing frame to the outer frame in all three holes indicated.
Place an XW03 screw through the hole to secure the inner wing frame to the wing panel followed by another XW03 in the hole indicated.
Drive two XW03 screws into the smaller engine brace and finally drive Four XW05 screws in the inner wing frame as shown.

Uncoil the laser cannon cable and straighten it out. Press the plug end into the recess near the hole in the wing tip and start feeding between the arrowed post so it follows the channel around the wing as shown in the last picture.

Tip. To keep the cable in place whilst feeding it around the wing, use some tape to keep in in place.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
