Issue/Stage 29 Contains – Power Input units (Upper & lower Halves), Pipework Detail (X6), XW01 Screws (X2)

Fitting the Pipework

Fit the two halves of the power unit attaching the pins to the lower half to the holes in the upper part. Press firmly together. Take the short pipe and align the “D” shaped lug on the end with the matching hole in the upper power unit. Take the two manifolds, they are mirror images of each other, and fit one into the end of the piece just fitted as shown. Repeat with the second one. Take one of the identical rectangular plates and fit the first of the four pipes that curve the way shown in the next picture, followed by the next three making sure they curve the same way. Align the two big pins on the back of the assembly with the square holes in the lower half of the power unit. Then press the pins into place fitting the small pins on the end of all four pipes into the holes in the manifold. Note, a little glue will help keep them in place if needed. Assemble the opposite side in the same way as before. Take the handle shaped pipe and fit the pins on the ends into the two holes in the upper half of the power unit. The last two pipes fit as shown in the pictures.

Take these parts that were provided in the previous issue. Fit the “D” shaped lug on one of the smaller parts with the matching hole in one of the larger detail, repeat the process with the other two parts. Take the two details and fit them into the square holes on the bulkhead, noting which way they go as shown.

Align the large “D” shaped hole in the bulkhead with the matching lug on the end of the power input unit and press into place.
Next, Identify the eight pieces of pipework and fit them in place using the pictures as a guide, again use a spot of glue to hold them in place if needed. Note, the pipework guide picture differs from the magazine. Please use the guide here and not the magazine.
Take the thin piece of pipework as supplied in the previous issue and fit it into the two holes in the bulkhead as shown.

Fitting the Engine

Take the fusial thrust engine from stage 27, together with an XW02 screw. Take the plug on the end of the lead for the engine’s lighting and fit it through the hole shown in the engine mount. Feed the lead through the hole and line up the engine mounting hole and locating pin with the holes in the mount. Push firmly in place holding it whilst turning the assembly over, then use a XW02 screw from the previous issue and fasten the engine in place. Run the cable around the pins as shown

Take the power input unit you have just completed so you can press it in place with the pins in the engine mount. Secure with an XW01 screw.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 31 Contains – Inner and Outer Edging Strip, Lower Skin and XW02 Screws (X4).

Assembling the Wing

Take the parts supplied this time, together with the wing assembly and laser cannon from earlier stages. There are three pins on the underside of the outer edge strip, match them to the holes on the recess as shown and push firmly in place. Take the inner edging strip and push into place, noting which way round it goes.

Now take the laser cannon and fit the plug on the end of its wire through the hole shown near the wingtip. Feed the wire through and line up the five mounting lugs and locating pins and push together in place. Hole the cannon in place whilst turning the assembly over and secure with three XW02 screws. Take the socket on the end of the wire running around the channel in the wing and plug the wire from the laser cannon into it. Press the plug and socket back into the channel.
Take the battery box and test both the plugs to make sure the cannon and engine lights are working properly.

You can now fit the upper skin, which has eight locating pins that fit into the wing frame. Press firmly in place.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 32 Contains – Laser Cannon Side Tube, Laser Cannon Side Detail, Laser Cannon Tube, Laser Cannon Housing (Outer half), Laser Cannon Jacket, Laser Cannon Shoulder, Laser Cannon Rear End Cap, Laser Cannon Front End Cap, XW01 Screws (X3), Lower Forward Fuselage Side Frames.

Making the Cannon

Press the larger end of the shoulder all the way into the cannon tube. Push the laser cannon jacket into the thinner end of the jacket. Align the tab in the side detail with the matching slot in the side tubes, making sure it is fitted as shown. Push the pins in the side tube into the matching holes in the laser cannon housing.

Extending the Frame

Lay the parts out, noting the markings underneath that show which frame goes on the right and which goes on the left. Fit the locating pin into the hole in the cockpit base, which aligns the other hole in the side frame with the screw hole in the base. Turn the assembly over and put a XW01 screw through the base and into the side frame. Note, be careful not to over tighten it. Now fit the right-hand frame as you did with the left frame.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
