Hey guys, I'm only recently properly getting into model building but loving it! Although I've noticed I've been getting headaches a lot and I'm wondering if anyone had this when using different paints on models? I was thinking about using some kind of respiratory protection like this... Has anyone else had experience with this? Looking for something relatively inexpensive but will get the job done... It could also be something simple such as eye strain from constantly looking at small parts, close up.
You might not even realise it, but try some cheapo reading glasses next time you see them in a 'pound' shop.
Test a few pairs out, looking at tiny print etc on some packaging, close up.
It's amazing how we all think our eyes are fine, but sometimes you get a surprise when you test them yourself.

Welcome Chris,
I agree with Roy maybe the headaches are related to eye strain too.I like using acrylic paints because the odor is so much less than enamels or lacquer based paints.I still wear a respirator if I am airbrushing though.The other thing may be your posture when you are modelling.I tend to hunch over which can cause neck problems and headaches.I hope you will post some pictures of your models on the forum.

Always worth considering the lighting conditions you are working under because that can have a big effect on your eyes. Ideally if working in the present UK conditions (ie permanent “darkness”) you want something bright but not glaring. Tony Happy Modelling
