Hello:
I found a spectacular kit on Ebay that is unfortunately available to us in the U.S. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this? The seller has an excellent track record.

BB I assume you mean not available in the US? I’ve recently paid to get two kits on Ebay, both not available in the US. One seller is in Italy, the other is in UK. I have paid for both, and am still awaiting shipment. So I can let you know more as things start to move along. My biggest hope is they do not “change their minds” for any reason part way through the subscription, and leave me with half the guts of a model. Both sellers seem reputable though, so I don’t feel like I’m taking too big of a risk. Only other thing I can really say is that shipping costs seem to vary quite a bit from country to country. The kit I’m receiving from Italy will be substantially cheaper than the one I sourced from UK...kinda kicking myself for that one actually. And btw, you live in a great neighborhood! I moved from the KC area/JOCO to NYC almost two years ago, and some days I really miss KC. Go Chiefs! -Dustin

I have seen this quite often.In some cases if you contact them they will sell to you.It can be a hassle and expensive to ship to different countries and some sellers dont want to bother with it.

Providing they offer International Shipping, it shouldn't be a problem. The shipping quote is displayed before you select 'buy'. Just pay through Paypal, and get their buyers guarantee.

I'm thinking of picking up the Hachette Bismarck kit. I been watching the World of Wayne videos and it looks like a lot of fun. I feel that the hull construction of this kit may me more in line with my current skill level.

When importing from another country you may want to enquire if their would be custom duties to pay. International seller will sometimes state that any of this type of additional costs are the responsibility of the buyer Current Build:-

I recently enquired about importing a kit into the UK and the reply was that as a general view you can be charged VAT at 20% plus 2% import duty. That can work out to a tidy amount at 22%.  Best to check before you commit Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

I tend to only buy if its from the USA to England were the seller is using the Global Shipping option which details and has you pay any customs/import duties upfront. Prevents any nasty surprise when the parcel gets to your location and you get a bill through the post asking for the additional costs. As Derek already mentioned import plus tax can be very expensive here in the IK. Tony Happy Modelling

I have recently bought a couple of partworks from Ebay Germany that were not available in the UK.
One was the Hachette Stuka, a complete set for the princely sum of 40 Euros plus shipping, and the other was the Deagostini N Gauge swiss model railway for just under 200 Euros with shipping, plus a few other bits for different collections, and never had any issues with buying things that way, so I wouls say that it's a safe way to obtain what you need.

My current Holy Grail of all part works models it up on eBay. However due to its rarity the seller has really jacked up the price and unless I win the lottery and have stupid money to burn I won't be seeing it anytime soon. Unless they ever decided to run it again but in the UK or US. Or in my wildest dreams if DeAgostini got the ability to release it here.

Someone has been listing the Alfa Duetto part work complete for the thick end of £2000 - It's been on Ebay over 18 months.
I think they are seriously dreaming.
