So, how long is a piece of string? Confused Confused

Its no surprise to most people that there has never been an answer to this question.

Now in a world of total turmoil there seem to be more people than ever asking the question everywhere. (Shops, doctors, hospitals, delivery company`s etc etc.)

How long?

When?

Why don`t you know?

What`s the problem?

and the list goes on. Crying Crying

Everyone will have to think before they jump down someone`s throat asking for an answer that simply does not exist at an instance.

Issues on service delivery as far as I`m concerned, do need questioning but there must be a realisation that maybe at this time an answer may not be forth coming when we want it.

There are a lot of things not happening due to Covid 19, my wife has had an operation for cataracts cancelled when she only has 30% vision but there are other things that need sorting first (her words not mine) and there are a lot of other people who have far more urgent issues that need attention.

So, yes ask for assistance with issues that you may get assistance with from this forum or anywhere else, but don`t spit your dummy out when you don`t get the answer you want when you want it.(Please)

Put your needs in priority, after you think if someone needs help more than yourself. Society as a whole needs to pull together more than any other time in my 64 years.

Keep well.

Keep 2 metres apart.

Help those in more need.

If memory serves, failure to answer questions on service issues and when the new forum was going to be ready for example, have been going on far longer than than the current virus.

So what you are suggesting is that once this current situation abate, it will be back to business as usual. OK.

As a clever politician once said, never let a crises go to waste.

I expect this post will be removed and/or I'll get a warning but anyway I think it needs to be said. Censor me if you must.

Stay safe everyone and help others where you can.

No censorship coming from me, that`s for sure.BigGrin

As for suggesting anything I`m not in a position to make any suggestions. Like anything at the moment we are back to the piece of string.

I`m sure when Admin can get hold of any solid info it will be posted on the forum.

LOL

I'm sure they will, it's just they never seem to get any.

How long did it take them to tell us there never was going to be a new forum even though work had apparently started clearing out the photo bucket pictures on this one?

Crises are easy things to hide behind in mu experience.

The clearing out of posts containing photobucket images had nothing to do with a new forum. It was done because the images stored on photobucket were no longer available due to the actions of photobucket themselves, not the forum....

That's not what we were told.

Unfortunately the posts related to that period mainly from Tom, seem to have been deleted.

Hi John.BigGrin

That`s exactly what happened.Blink Blink

When Photobucket decided to try and rip people off for hosting pics there was an app/extension of sorts that allowed you to recover your pics. After a while when Photobucket realised what was happening they put a block on that too.

I was lucky enough to recover all my pics before that happened (over 1000 and one at a time), but in itself caused some issues as they came back as zip files and each one then had to be expanded. Then I had to check out the file name for every picture to make sure I put the correct pics in the correct place.

Having gone back over years of my personnel posting and spent weeks getting things sorted I didn`t lose a single post/thread.

Not everyone was lucky enough to recover their pics, so as those threads were useless without the pics they were deleted.

Hope this explains what occurred.

Thanks Derek.

Yes I remember that episode and don't disagree with your analysis of what occurred at that time.

I am referring to what happened after that when we were told, and given a deadline, to tidy up our diaries in readiness for moving posts over to the new server/forum around Sept 2017 if memory serves. I was also sent with a post telling me to do this on a picture I had up (not photo bucket) with a broken link.

It was either Tom or the admins that raised these, I don't remember who.

Of course, memory being what it is, I may have my wires crossed but as someone who suffers with this photo issue more than others it seems. I was following progress with interest at that time.
