BigGrin hi Johnny coming along brilliantly

I often pop onto your build diary picking up ideas and tips etc when ever you make a posting

Blushing This might be the bit where i get banned from the forum

Blushing Not too keen on part number 56Bored

Cursing if u get angry at me for pointing this out i understandCrying

I am just surprised at you not noticing this as i regularily visit all your build diaries for inspiration which i have found most helpful

Blushing i hope i have not spoken out of turn and hope you will return the compliment as i would have given up long ago if it wasn't for the forum and people like yourself giving advise and inspiration
Cheers

Very funny K+rl
there is no way i set out to upset Johnny he has been a great inspiration to ME and others

I look on his diary as a way forward for ME to learn and be inspired from

a little hiccup is a learning experience

I thought if i pointed this "56" out he could forewarn others

experience doesn't mean you don't make errors

experience doesn't mean you don't know everything

Johnny is human so therefore

if he can slightly err it is not the end of the world when i **** up

seems to me the forum means if you can't say "great, super, fantastic" you might as well say nothing at all

Apoligies to any one i may have offended

That was a good call Budgie,I would have had the same problem even though I had sanded it down the number 56 would still have shown through.
My remedy was to fill with filler and lightly resand the area.
Hopefully alls well that ends well.
Happy building to you all.

Blink Blink Thank you CMB apoligies to Johnny for hijacking his space

I post a lot of pics on my build of Surprise
not because of how good i have done
but to be forewarned of potential hiccups and to make others aware

ie i have had to remove inner planking as the measurement for spacing is not the same as the measurement for OUTER spacing

This is my first ever build that i have gotten this far on and i do not intend to give up on now

If i was building this on my own i would not have gotten this far(fact)

It is down to you guys on Surprise ,Victory, and other builds that has given me the inspiration, determination, and some times the darn right stouburnes to carry on to prove to certain members
Yes i can do it
Yes i need your help
Yes i can

It is down to the reader how they interpret them

No offence taken lads...and as for hicking my build site, no offence there either shipmates...as for the 56...I accidentally painted over the word years that was printed next to it...which was what I thought might take me to rig and fit the blasted cannon!!

I have been fiddling around with the task of rigging the cannon but found with arthritic hands the task of holding to tiny ring bolts and blocks rather difficult, and there were times when I wished that I had four hands with ten fingers on each!!! So I came up with this idea...if this suggestion has been presented before then please forgive me.
It is simple really...I looked all through my bits and pieces to find a short length of fairly stiff wire (the same diameter of the ring bolts and hole in the blocks) it is inserted vertically into a small vice...I found this idea handy when attaching thread cord or wire to the ring bolts and also for holding the blocks in place while twisting wire or cord around them.

The Pictures are not exactly clear or perfect, but just to give you the general idea...

Good idea Johny. I found that the hands free magnifier was useful for holding the blocks for attaching the wires and cords. is this to fiddly for your liking?

Hello Johny! Cool

You’re so right there Johny these little blocks can be a pain to tie, you just can't keep hold of the little things can you. I'm pleased to see you’re on the right track, well done!.

I've been re-doing the picture I lost the other week thanks to a faulty memory card, that covered this fiddly task, you might find it a help as others might. It not only covers tying the blocks but also fitting them to the masts, yards or eyebolts.

I thought that I had better share my latest piece of work with you shipmates...I struggled a bit with the cannon, but I eventually got them fitted and the ropes ready to be threaded through the blocks...Though, with the blocks slightly larger and out of scale, they look somewhat out of place, but grinning and bearing it, I plodded on.
Blink

As soon as I had got the tackle to the cannon fitted out, I set about making the ladders as per issue 52, varnished them and left them in the position they are meant to be fitted to dry off...The ladders will have to be trimmed down to size ready for gluing into their final position.

That is all for today, but I am looking at the task of fitting the companionway ropes and the bitt before moving onto issue 53...Hope you are enjoying your builds shipmates...

Hi Jonny! Cool

You’re doing well mate! As long as you’re enjoying yourself that's the main thing and when the finish is as good as what I've seen, it doesn't matter if it takes a little longer to get there.

Keep up the good work mate!
