Hi Gill Really like those trains Instantly think of childhood times with Casey Jones on telly I purchased the Rocket when it was on offer thinking I could take it to my workshop and work on it ensuring I took a lunch break Didn't quite work out as I found myself working on the road So I have put it away for a more suitable time and hoping I can use your diary for guidance and inspiration at a later date

I was looking for something on Amazon the other day and they are marketing "mini pegs for modelling" in either wood or plastic. I couldn't quite gauge how large they are but for about £3 they're worth a punt? Chris

The ones I used are 25mm. My preference would be for the wooden pegs. Much easier to modify as i did for the wheel clamps. No wheels on my wagon yet. It has taken me a while to complete the wheels. In hindsight it would have been a good idea to have primed some of the components prior to assembly. We learn as we go along. Have finally (Two coats of primer, two of top coat. Some applied with shake and spray and the more fiddly with brush) completed the wheels. Next step is to fit Pictures attached GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Hi Gil, I have been watching this build diary for some time now and it is fascinating to see the project coming together. At the moment, my passion is for static ship building and my present project is HMS Victory. With all of these kits there seems to be a couple of common traits: a) The passion and dedication to creating as good a build as you can. b) The group comradeship that it generates plus offers of comments and help where needed. Keep uptake good work and I shall certainly be following. Kind Regards Chris (Goddo)

looks fantastic Gil.Cant wait to see the finished product. It looks like you have the pistons at the right angle too. When I built mine the pistons wouldnt line up with the connecting rod for the drive wheel. Occres ears were burning that day I cant tell you.

A great piece of workmanship Gil. It's really coming together now. It will be great to see it on a piece of track when it's all done.

Wheels added. Made a temporary "track" to ensure the wheels will be at the right gauge. Have checked the piston rods will link to the drive wheels OK but have yet to finish this part. Wheels added to the tender. Now adding the suspension units with a few more bits to add. Have yet to complete the "barrel" (Water tank) Don't like the supplied "Coal" this consists of pieces of what looks like white gravel. Do they expect us to paint them black???. Have purchased some model black coal off EBay. (Used for model train layouts) picture attached GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

looks great Gil. I knew you had the pistons at the right angle!! I did the same for the coal.I actually tried spraying the kit supplied "coal" but it wound never hold the paint and looked awful. OCCREs section of rail kit that was sold to go with this had the same rocks.OCCRE must have got a big supply of them and figured they would look OK as Coal. They were wrong.

And so we have finished. Wheels added, Water tank finished, bits and pieces added including the imitation coal for the tender. The supplied gravel pieces did not do it for me. I had some issues with bands on the tank as the glue would not hold so in the end i decided to pin them. I am happy with the final look. Might need to do a final overview of the paint to see if any touching up is required, but i like the look of a working engine as apposed to a showroom finish. Was always my intention to display this with the other OcCre trains. I like the final look. I have employed a driver to look after the rocket (He is an experienced controller and does colour coordinate) Picture attached And now for something completely different. My next build will be the T72. The complete kit was on offer at a price I could not ignore and CS have confirmed the kit is in stock !!!!. We Shall see Pictures attached GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle
