Stage 135 Contents: Sail S8, Dummy Cannons and Decorations
Take decorations C170 and C171 supplied with this stage and prepare them in the same way as the others. Glue the three C170 decorations to the starboard side and the C171 decorations to the port side of the bulwarks.
Prepare the main topgallant yard Y8 from stage 114 and the main topgallant sail S8 supplied with this stage. Fit all the rigging to the assembly as shown in step 3 of the instructions. Tie the topgallant yard parrel around the topgallant mast just below the crosstrees.
Rig the lifts from the eyebolts on the sides of the topgallant mast cap, through the blocks to top of the yard and hanging from the crosstrees, down through the tops, tying off on the side pin rails. Tie a 5mm block to each of the aft most main shrouds and a double block to the mizzen topgallant mast then rig the braces as shown in step 6 of the instructions.
Now rig the clewlines, pass them down through both mast tops and tie them off to the side pin rails. Rig the topgallant sheets, passing the through the main top and tying them off to the side pin rails.
Retrieve the cross-jack yard Y11 from stage 114 and prepare it to match the image in stage 9 of the instructions. This yard has no sail. Tie the cross-jack yard parrel to the mizzen mast below the bibbs.
Now rig the cross-jack yard lifts, raising the yard to the correct height then securing the lines to the aft most side pin rails. At the stern, fit an eyebolt to either side of the hull and tie a 5mm block to the handrail, as shown in step 12 of the instructions. Rig the cross-jack yard braces starting from the eyebolt, through the block hanging from the braces, then through the block on the rail, tying off on the rail uprights.
Store any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Alan,
Can you tell me who your optician is please? He has obviously sorted your vision. Concentrating on those little decorations would make my eyes blur.
I have one of those headpiece magnifiers but I get tired quickly wearing that. Even with the batteries removed it feels heavy.

Jonny, Chris, thanks for looking in and the kind comments.... appreciated.... @Jonny - so good to see you back with us on the forum, hope all is good with you..... @Goddo - Believe it or not, went to specsavers and used their two for one offer. Spoke to the optician and told him I do a lot of close up work and that I used an optivisor to see the finer detail. He sorted me with a pair of glasses that does the same thing (my free pair) and they are superb for the finer detail. However, they are only good for things that are about 12 inches away, when wearing them and I look up then everything is a blur....  .. Still use optivisors for things that are further than 12 inches away.... works for me.... Regards Alan

Stage 136 Contents: Sail S9 and Decorations
Retrieve the yard Y9 from stage 114. Prepare the yard with sail S9 from this stage, then fit a parrel with five ribs and 12 trucks. Before fitting the lateen to the mizzenmast, attach the lines and blocks as shown in step 2 of the instructions. Tie the lateen parrel to the mizzenmast below the cross-jack yard.
Pass the halyard through the 5mm block hanging from the mizzen top, then down and tie off to the central decoration. Rig the yard lift following the same process as with the stays, refer to the images in step 5 of the instructions.
Fit an eyebolt to the starboard side of the deck, forward of the transom and tie a double block to it. Rig the brace by tying a line to the 5mm block hanging from the yard, down through the double block, back up through the single block, then down through the double block, tying off at the side cleat.
Lead the two ends of the line at the forward end of the yard outboard, tying them off to the rails on either side. Rig the clewline from the block on the yard to the clew, back up and through the block then down and tie off to the central pin on the starboard pin rail. Now fit another double block to the rear of the deck, this time on the port side. Then rig the sheet between the clew of the sail and the double block, tie off to the port side cleat.
Retrieve the parts of the figure supplied with stage 128 and remove any flash or burrs from them. Glue the four pieces together and leave to dry. Take the three parts of the figure supplied with stage 131 and remove any flash or burrs. Glue the arms to the figure. Apply a coat of metal primer to the figures and when dry, paint the figure as per the painting guide contained within the instructions.
Store any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Really like the fact you get a selection of crew figures with this one to give a true sense of the scale. They look nicely detailed as well for the size. You must have incredible patience doing all that rigging - it looks so complicated. Tony Happy Modelling

Stage 137 Contents: Sail S10, Cannon Balls and Wooden Strips
Prepare yard Y10 from stage 114 and sail S10 from this stage, attaching lines and blocks as shown in step 1 of the instructions. Tie the mizzen topyard parrel to the mizzen topmast just below the crosstrees.
Rig the lifts from the mast cap, through the blocks at the ends of the yard, then through the blocks hanging from under the crosstrees, then down through the top tying off to the pins on the side pinrails. (Refer to step 3 of the instructions as the terminating pins are different for each side).
Now attach a 5mm double block to the lateen yard. Rig the braces from the lateen yard to the brace blocks on the topyard, then through the double block you just fitted, forward through the blocks hanging from the top, then down and tie to the side pinrails. (Refer to step 4 of the instructions as the terminating pins are different for each side).
Rig the mizzen topsail clewlines in the same way as for previous then rig the mizzen topsail sheets tying off on the side pinrails. This now concludes the main rigging.
Glue the edges of two 110mm lengths of 1x3mm wooden strips together. When dry, cut them into ten 10mm pieces. Then cut twenty 10mm and twenty 6mm lengths of 1x3mm wooden strip. Now start to assemble the shot boxes. Each is made up of one 6 x 10mm piece, two 3 x 10mm pieces and two 3 x 6mm pieces. Glue the two 10mm lengths along the side of the 6 x 10mm piece. Then glue the two 6mm lengths onto the bottom piece, between the 10mm lengths. When dry sand the tops of the pieces flush. Repeat this process to create a total of 10 shot boxes.
Paint the ten boxes red. When the paint has dried, glue 11-12 cannon balls inside each box. Now glue the shot boxes onto the deck, placing five on each side between the cannons.
Store any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Another great update Alan. I have found that when the rigging starts to get that complicated it pays to roll up your sleeves and remove your watch before something hooks where you don't want it. The Bounty rigging made me reconsider ship modelling, swore I wouldn't do another one, and then bought the full kit of Victory but not got to the rigging yet.
