Fiat Pack 2

Firstly, our apologies again for such a monumentally big delay in progressing this build. Some things are out of our hands. Here we finally are with Pack 2.

This Fiat 126P pack has FIVE stages over five individual heat-sealed sleeves.

Stage 6: The transmission
Your parts:

6A. Sump
6B. Transmission housing lower
6C. Transmission housing right
6D. Transmission housing left
DP. Screws 1.7 x 5mm, 2 + 1 spare piece
GM. Screws 1.7 x 4mm, 5 + 3 spare pieces
AM. M screws 1.7 x 3mm, 4 + 2 spare pieces

You’ll find all stages in this inside these clear sleeves. Some sleeves still have the bubble pack inside, securing all parts, such as this one.

Take the Sump (6A) and the Transmission Housing Lower (6B) and sit them together. Use two DP screws to securely fasten them. Don’t over-tighten as these parts are plastic.

Now take both the Transmission Housing Right (6C) and the Transmission Housing Left (6D) and push the parts together. Use two GM screws to fasten together. These parts are metal and like many metal parts, you may find it useful to first add the screw to cut the thread before screwing the parts together.

We can now fit the transmission unit that you just built, to the engine block from the previous pack. Orient the parts as thus;

Use two GM screws to secure the units from the front, and one GM screw to fasten from the rear.

Recover the sump unit you made at the beginning of this pack and sit in place as shown here. Now use four AM screws to fasten in place.

Stage 7: The fan
Your parts:

7A. Fan housing left
7B. Fan housing right
7C. Fan housing upper
7D. Fan pipe left
7E. Fan pipe right
AM. 1.7 x 3mm screws
AP. 1.7 x 3mm screws
CP. 1.7 x 4mm screws

This stage has its parts inside two sleeves of the main wallet. Carefully open using scissors or a knife.

Take the Fan Pipe Left (7D) and the Fan Pipe Right (7E) and fasten them together using two CP screws.

Now take the completed fan pipe and locate into the Fan Housing Left (7A) as shown, and then use one AP screw to fasten them together.

Take the Fan Housing Right (7B) and sit on the opposite side of 7A. Now use three AP screws to secure them together.

We can now fit the completed fan unit to the engine block. Orient the parts as shown and then fasten together using four AM screws.

Stage 8: Engine assembly (incorrectly labelled as Stage 7 in instructions)
Your parts:

8A. Distributor
8B. High tension cable fairlead 1
8C. High tension cable fairlead 2
8D. High tension cables
8E. Protective sleeve
8F. Spark plugs
8G. Oil filler cap
8H. Valve cover
AM. 1.7 x 3mm screws
AP. 1.7 x 3mm screws
EP. 1.7 x 2.5 x 5mm screws Tweezers

All parts in this wallet are carefully placed in a bubble packet inside the sleeve. You have also been provided with a handy pair of tweezers for the stage and other work on your model Fiat 126P.

The High Tension Cable Fairlead 2 (8C) is now fitted to the Valve Cover (8H) using a single AP screw.

We can now fit the Oil Filler Cap (8G) to the Valve Cover (8H). Push the cap into the hole as shown and use a single EP screw to secure them from inside the valve cover.

Take the Valve Cover assembly and sit in position on top of the engine block. Fasten into position using two AM screws.

Use a single AM screw to fasten the High Tension Cable Fairlead 1 (8B) to the engine block in the position shown.

Take your tweezers to help you locate and fit the two Spark Plugs (8F) into the holes on top of the engine block. Push these in until they either click or won’t move any further.

Press the green Distributor (8A) into position as shown.

Thread the two High Tension Cables (8D) through the Protective Sleeve (8E) and slide the assembly through the High Tension Cable Fairlead 2, using tweezers to locate the cables to the top of the spark plugs.

Now slide the cable assembly through the High Tension Cable Fairlead 1 and plug the cables onto the distributor as shown.

Stage 9: Engine assembly
Your parts:

9A. Engine mount bracket
9B. Timing belt cover
9C. Air filter hose
9D. Air filter cover
9E. Air filter housing
9F. Carburettor part 1
9G. Carburettor part 2
DP. 1.7 x 5mm screws
GM. 1.7 x 4mm screws
FP. 2 x 3mm screws
CP. 1.7 x 4mm screws

There are a lot of parts here, some quite small, so take care when removing them from the wallet.

Take the Timing Belt Cover (9B) and fasten in place on the back of the engine block using three GM screws.

Now fit the Engine Mount Bracket (9A) into position as shown, using two CP screws. Note that this part looks slightly different to the CAD-rendered image in the PDF instruction sheet.

Take the Air Filter Housing (9E) and sit on top of the Fan Cover Upper (7C) left over from Stage 7. Turn the parts over and fasten using one DP screw.

The Fan Upper Cover can now be installed to the engine using four FP screws.

Push the Air Filter Cover (9D) into position on top of the air filter housing.

Take the Carburettor Part 1 (9F) and Carburettor Part 2 (9G) and screw them together using one CP screw.

Sit the carburettor on top of the engine block as shown and fasten in place using one CP screw.

Sit the Air Filter Hose (9C) between the air filter and the carburettor, and screw into the carburettor using two CP screws.

Stage 10: Engine assembly
Your parts:

10A. Belt
10B. Pulley flange
10C. Belt drive wheel 1
10D. Fan drive wheel 2
10E. Fan drive wheel 3
10F. Generator
AP. 1.7 x 3mm screws
DP. 1.7 x 5mm screws

This last packet contains all the parts for the belt unit. Carefully remove the parts and identity them against your instructions, as some parts look very similar.

Take the Generator (10F) and sit the Belt Drive Wheel (10C) into position.

Now take the Pulley Flange (10B) and sit over the top of part 10C. Note the orientation of the Pulley Flange disc.

Use one DP screw to fasten both discs to the generator.

Fasten the generator unit to the rear of the fan housing using two AP screws.

Sit the Fan Drive Wheel 3 (10E) onto the back of the engine.

Take the Fan Drive Wheel 2 (10D) and push it into position over the previous drive wheel.

Using another DP screw, secure the fan drive wheels to the engine.

Lastly, take the Belt (10A) and sit in the wheel recesses, between both sets of wheels. This is slightly elastic, but make sure you also don’t twist the belt. It should lay flat between the wheels.

That’s it! Pack 3 will be online before too long.
