Hi All,

As I`ve had a slight flare-up of an old back problem and can`t stand for long, I had a go at this 1:12 bust of Cleopatra as I can sit with a collection of paints and pick-up/put-down when the need requires it.

I purchased this two part kit a while back after attending a one day face and figure painting course.

The pics below:

First the artwork provided in the advertising when you buy the bust.

Then my interpretation with a darker skin tone because of the region Cleopatra lived in.

Regards

Thanks Tony, BigGrin

The only issue is that as I bought the figure at a good price, £19.99 the plinth and case cost £21.97. Crying

Good thing is that I won`t have to worry about keeping the dust off it.LOL LOL

Beautiful work Derek and superbly presented too!Cool Cool Cool
When you said the case and plinth cost over £21, was that the nifty wooden support as well? I have used the exact same case for my Chindit bust and a smaller one for Frederick. I checked back on my ebay purchases log and the 31cm high case cost £14.95 back in 2018 and has gone up to £17.40 now. Incidentally, if you want to fix the case sides and top (but not to the base) I've used that new glue that comes with a little UV light to cure it - really easy to use, a couple of spots where the two parts come together then run the UV up and down and its stuck firmly together with no risk of fogging like with poly or super glue fumes!

A lovely job!

Thanks for the positive comments, they are as always much appreciated.

Cool BigGrin Cool

@ Robin.

They must have made alterations to the case as it now has two locking tabs that hold the clear one piece top to the black base. Then the wooden plinth is £3 + p/p and is resin (white) with a wood grain within the moulding. I painted it with a light grey primer and top coated it by brush with ModelAir 71036 Mahogany.

Must be the advancement of production processes that have kept the prices down. Now that can only be good news. BigGrin BigGrin
