Imperial Yacht Standart, Pack 10, Stages 89-99.
Stage 89 Contents: Superstructure Parts Fret and Etch Parts Fret.
Separate four window frames and one door frame from the etch parts fret supplied with this stage and remove any burrs. Glue the four window frames to the window opening in the port side of the forward superstructure. Now glue the door between the two windows, flush with the strip running along the bottom edge. Carefully sand the outer corners of the two side structures so they are curved.
Separate the two large frames from the etch parts fret and remove any burrs. Glue the two frames around the large openings at the top of the side structures.
Now separate the two side walls and aft bulkhead from the superstructure parts fret supplied with this stage. Glue the two side walls into the centre of the superstructure, making sure that the tabs on the top are aligned centrally with the side structures. Glue the rear bulkhead up against the two side walls. When the glue has dried, sand the joins smooth.
Separate four window frames from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue into place along the starboard side. Separate the two door frames and four more window frames from the fret and glue into position. The top edge of the door frames should be in line with the top of the window frames.
Stage complete.

Stage 90 Contents: Etch Parts Fret, Brass Wire and Eyebolts.
Remove eight window frames from the etch parts fret supplied with this stage, smooth the edges to remove any burrs. Glue four of the window frames to the lower windows at the side of the superstructure, then glue another four window frames to the other side.
Remove the three small window frames from the etch parts fret and remove any burrs. Glue the three frames over the window opening at the front of the superstructure. Remove the remaining eight window frames from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue these window frames to the remaining window openings on the superstructure.
Remove the two door frames and the remaining door frame from the previous stage and remove any burrs. Glue the doors into position.
Retrieve the two boiler rooms. Drill six holes along the side of the boiler room to accommodate the eyebolts. The holes should be 15mm apart, a couple of millimetres in from either end. Glue six eyebolts into the holes just made, positioning them with the eyes arranged vertically. When the glue has dried, cut off the ends of the eyebolts protruding on the inside of the boiler room. Repeat the process on the other side of the boiler room, then prepare the second boiler room in the same way.
Stage complete.

Stage 91 Contents: Ply Parts Fret, Etch Parts Fret, Brass Wire and Eyebolts.
Remove the four pieces with the rounded corners from the ply fret supplied with this stage and sand the smooth. Remove the four small rounded rectangles from the fret supplied in stage 86 and sand the edges smooth. Glue the smaller pieces on top of the larger pieces ensuring they are aligned centrally. Paint the four assemblies mahogany.
Now cut eight lengths of 1x3mm wooden strip the same length as the tops of the assemblies just made. Glue two strips onto the top of each assembly and leave to dry. Paint the wooden strips brass.
Glue two of the assemblies to the deck of the aft superstructure, 3mm apart and 4mm aft from the mast hole. Glue the remaining to assemblies 3mm aft of the first two.
Separate five door frames from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue five of the door frames to the central superstructure, 3mm apart. Ensuring the correct orientation of the central superstructure, start with the central door and work outward. Now separate the two remaining door frames from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue into place on the side of the central superstructure. Separate the two windows from the etch fret and glue them to the other side of the central superstructure, 11mm from the bottom, 6mm in from the side and 3mm apart.

Stage 92 Contents: Etch Parts Fret and a Vent
Separate the remaining pieces from the fret supplied in stage 91, keeping the four sizes separate and marked to avoid confusing them. I chose to write the letter on the underside of each piece as outlined in step 1 of the instructions. Sand all the parts smooth then apply a coat of mahogany paint.
Separate the four pieces from the fret corresponding to the four part ‘A’s and remove any burrs. Glue the four pieces onto the four blocks marked ‘A’. Now glue two of the pieces to the upper deck, up against the strip along the port side. Refer to the measurements outlined in step 4 of the instructions.
Now separate the four large pieces from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue the four pieces to the blocks marked ‘B’. Glue two of the ‘B’ pieces forward of the two ‘A’ pieces, referring to step 7 of the instructions for exact measurements. Fit the remaining ‘A’ and ‘B’ pieces to the starboard side of the deck using the same measurements as before.
Remove the three remaining pieces from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Note that one of the pieces is a little larger than the other two. Glue the two smaller pieces to the two pieces marked ‘D’ and the remaining piece to the piece marked ‘C’.
Retrieve the small hatch prepared in stage 65. Place the hatch over the forward opening in the deck and mark the aft edge of the hatch onto the deck. Glue piece ‘C’ up against the line just made.

Stage 93 Contents: Etch Parts Fret, Brass Wire and Eyebolts
Retrieve the two boiler rooms. Measure and cut three 80mm lengths of the brass wire supplied with this stage and file the ends flat. Do not discard the offcuts of wire, they will be needed later.
Pass one of the 80mm lengths of wire through the eyebolts in the side of one of the boiler rooms. Centre the length of brass wire and fix in place with some glue. Repeat the process on the other side of the boiler room then fit the third piece of brass wire through the eyebolts on the second boiler room.
Take two of the offcuts of wire and cut into two 17mm lengths. File the ends flat then pint with coat of metal primer. When dry, apply a coat of matt black paint. Retrieve the skylights prepared in stage 40 and glue the two pieces of black wire along the centre roof line.
Separate five door frames from the etch fret and remove any burrs. Glue the five door frames into position along the side of the central superstructure, beginning with the middle door. Separate the two remaining door frames from the fret and remove any burrs. Then glue the two doors next to the two doors fitted in stage 91. Now remove the two window frames from the fret and remove any burrs. Glue them into position next to the two windows fitted in stage 91, the same distances apart.
Paint the walls of the central superstructure with primer. When the primer has dried, apply a coat of mahogany paint to the walls.

Stage 94 Contents: Etch Parts Fret and a Vent
Remove the larger piece from the etch parts fret and remove any burrs. Take the part and shape it around a 12mm dowel or cylinder. Bend the ends of the part inwards along the perforated lines. Test-fit and glue the part to the front of the upper central section of the forward superstructure. Now separate the window frame from the etch parts fret and remove any burrs. Bend the window frame to match the curve of the part just fitted. When the fit is good, glue over the opening.
Retrieve the parts fret from stage 89 and remove the remaining piece from it. Sand the piece smooth, then glue the piece onto the top of the superstructure. Paint the superstructure with a coat of primer. When dry, paint the sides of the structure mahogany.
Paint the decks of the forward superstructure matt black, then retrieve the central superstructure and paint the top matt black. When the paint has dried, glue lengths of 0.6x3mm wooden strips from stage 70, onto the top of the central superstructure starting from the centre line out to one side. Cut away the strips covering the opening in the middle of the deck, then cover the other side with strips. When the glue has dried, cut away all the strips covering the openings and overlapping the edges. Mark along the joins between the strips with a pencil.
Retrieve the square part from stage 38 and sand smooth, then paint the part white. When dry, place the central superstructure upside down inside of the square frame. Apply glue along the joins to secure into position. Take the two skylights from stage 93 and glue them over the openings in the deck of the central superstructure.

Stage 95 Contents: Stanchions and Eyebolts
Retrieve the forward superstructure and cover the upper deck with lengths of 0.6x3mm wooden strips, starting from the centre and working outwards. The glue lengths of 0,6x3mm strips to the lower deck, again starting from the centre and working outwards. After the glue has dried, carefully remove the excess strips that overhang all the edges of the decks. Sand the decks smooth then mark the joins between the strips with a pencil. Apply a coat of clear varnish to the decks.
Place pieces of masking tape over the window frames of the side towers of the forward superstructure. Wrap masking tape around the towers, under the window frames then pain the exposed area of the upper part white. When dried, carefully remove the masking tape.
Retrieve the parts fret supplied with stage 86 and remove the lower superstructure frame. Sand the part smooth then cut it in half. Remove the upper superstructure frame from the fret supplied with stage 73 and sand the part smooth. Paint the frame parts mahogany. Now glue the two lower frame halves around the edge of the lower deck, flush with the deck. Then glue the upper frame to the edge of the upper deck, flush with the deck.
Separate 15 stanchions from the etch fret supplied with this stage and remove any burrs. Drill three holes in the front of the lower deck, evenly spaced, 3mm in from either side. Glue a stanchion into each of the holes. Drill another six holes around the deck on either side as shown in step 12 of the instructions. (Note: The 11mm measurement given in the instructions is wrong. I drilled the hole 8mm away from the side tower).

Stage 96 Contents: Stanchions, Brass Wire and a Davit
Cut an 80mm length of brass wire supplied with this stage and file the ends of the wire flat. Pass the 80mm length through the eyebolts at the side of the boiler room and glue into place.
Cut a 105mm length of 1.5x400mm brass wire supplied in stage 86. Bend the wire to fit around the aft of the central section of the forward superstructure’s lower deck. File the ends of the wire to fit flush, then glue the wire in place. Shape another length of wire to fit around the front and sides of the superstructure's lower deck. You can use several pieces of wire it you find it is easier. Glue the shaped piece of wire into position around the lower deck of the superstructure.
Now retrieve the four pieces of 1x100mm brass wire from stages 90 and 91. Bend and cut the wire pieces to fit around the edge of the upper deck, then glue the pieces to the edge of the upper deck.
Retrieve one of the steps assembled in stage 55 and test-fit it against the lower deck of the superstructure. Make two marks on the deck, the same width as the stairs. Remove 14 stanchions from the etch fret supplied with this stage and remove any burrs. Drill two holes where you made the marks on the deck, then another at the corner then three more, as shown in step 11 of the instructions. Glue the stanchions into the holes, making sure to match the positions shown. Repeat the process on the other side of the superstructure, then fit the last two stanchions along the rear of the deck ensuring they are evenly spaced.

Stage 97 Contents: Etch Parts Fret
Retrieve the davit from stage 5 and hold it against the bulwark, 4mm aft of the fourth porthole on the port side. Mark the two points of the davit onto the side of the hull between the brass wires. Drill two 1.5mm holes at the marks just made and glue the davit into place. Retrieve the davits supplied with stages 13 and 15. Drill two pairs of holes for these on the side of the hull, 49mm from the first davit and a further 33mm for the third davit. Glue the two davits into the holes just made.
Take the davits from stages 28 and 78. Drill two more pairs of holes into the hull, 50mm aft of the third davit and a further 39mm for the next. Glue the two davits into place. Retrieve the davit from stage 88 and fit 57mm aft of the last davit fitted. Glue the davit into place.
Remove the six wheels from the etch parts fret supplied with this stage and remove any burrs. Retrieve six nails supplied with previous stages. Drill a hole in the raised section inside the bulwark just above the horizontal wire, in line with the davit. Use a drill bit that matches the diameter of the nails. Insert a nail through the centre of one of the wheels and test-fit it in the hole. Shorten the nail so that it extends by 3mm out of the wall then glue into place. Install the other five wheels in the same way, each aligned with the davits.
Separate the frame from the etch parts fret and remove any burrs. Paint the frame with metal primer and when dry, apply a coat of matt black paint. Glue the frame to the side of the hull, aft of the last davit, placed centrally the larger gap between the portholes.

Stage 98 Contents: Etch Parts Fret, Thread and a Davit
Retrieve one of the stairs assembled in stage 54 and test=fit it on the forward superstructure. Mark the width of the stairs on the upper deck. Drill two holes into the marks just made, then drill two holes in the corner of the deck. Drill another two holes, evenly spaced between the two pairs. Remove six stanchions from the etch fret supplied with stage 86 and remove any burrs. Now glue the six stanchions into the holes just made.
Drill six holes on the other side of the upper deck in the same positions opposite. Note, there are no stairs on this side so the innermost hole should be made at the corner. Glue six more stanchions into the holes. Continue around the front of the upper deck, drilling five more holes starting from the centre line of the deck. Glue a stanchion into each of the holes. Repeat all the above on the port side of the upper deck. Now drill six holes in the rear area of the upper deck, in the corners. Glue a stanchion into each of these holes.
Take the thread supplied with this stage and apply a little glue to the end to make it stiff. Pass the thread through the lower holes of the stanchions along the aft edge of the lower deck. Pull the thread taut and apply glue to secure it. Make a small hole in the towers at either side, the same height as the lower stanchions holes and cut off any thread that extends past this point. Glue the ends of the thread into the holes.
Cut a further three 10cm lengths of thread. Take one of the lengths and pass it through the middle holes of the stanchions, securing it to the towers in the same way as the lower. Use the final two lengths and thread through the lower and middle stanchions on the front of the lower deck, securing the ends in the same way.
Glue a length of thread through the lower holes of the upper stanchions. When the glue has dried, remove the thread between the stanchions where the steps will be fitted.
Following the same process, prepare lengths of thread for the lower holes in the stanchions, around the deck of the aft superstructure. Pass the thread through the holes, pull taut and secure with glue. When the glue has dried, cut away the thread from between the stanchions at the two openings in the deck frame.

Stage 99 Contents: Aft Port Decoration and a Davit
Remove the ship’s name from the etch fret supplied with stage 98 and remove any burrs. Carefully bed the name to fit flush with the curvature of the stern, then glue into place just above the lower wire. Retrieve the decoration from stage 4 and glue it centrally onto the stern of the ship, just above the ship’s name.
Take the aft port decoration and carefully bend it to fit around the stern quarter. Sand the decoration smooth and apply a coat of metal primer. When dry, paint the piece matt black then dry brush the relief gold. Glue the decoration into place, making sure it doesn’t block the hole in the bulwark.
Retrieve the 1mm brass wire supplied in stage 84 and cut six 40mm lengths. Shape the lengths of wire to match those shown in step 8 of the instructions. Take one of the prepared brackets and test-fit with one of the davits. The ends of the bracket should be about 1mm longer than necessary. Mark the ends of the bracket onto the bulwark, then drill a shallow 1mm holes where the marks have been made. Glue the bracket to the davit and the ends into the holes. Repeat the process with the other five davits.
Cut six more 40mm lengths of 1mm wire and shape the lengths to match those shown in step 11 of the instructions. Test-fit one of the brackets against the bulwark and davit, mark the ends of the bracket onto the bulwark and drill two shallow 1mm holes where the marks have been made. Then glue the bracket into position. Glue the remaining five brackets onto the other davits, following the same process.
Stage complete.
