Hi all

Started this a while ago but I'll try and get some pics of the build so far.

It appears to be a good quality kit and will be quite a weight when finished, pity I can't get a 1/4 scale Rossi to display next to it. Maybe a helmet.

Anyway the first pics of the tank cover, top fairing and front guard show that they have been clearcoated using Zero Paints laquer. A couple of mist coats first as anything heavier will melt the decals, (tested that on a spare tank cover).

They have then had 6 coats of clear. Front guard has been wet sanded and buffed. Top fairing and tank cover still to be sanded and buffed.

Next up is the front end. Wasn't totally happy with the colour of the forks, wanted a more anodised look so again purchased some Zeropaints fork gold.

Fork tubes were stripped and painted. still not quite right so a couple of coats of Tamiya X-24 clear yellow seems to have done the trick. Just need to find some Ohlins decals.

Fork bottoms were re-painted in Tamiya X-31 titan gold more in fitting with the real bike. Got rid of the mould lines on the tyre with magic mould line remover (Rag and White Spirit) Laugh.

Cheers Steve

Thanks CaptnBirdseye

Yep had many of bikes over the years of all makes. Worked on thousands more in my previous incarnation of motorcycle mechanic, some better than others, Italian electrics Cursing.

But the 750 bandit was quite something, Japanese only model. Basically a 1200 with a 750 motor.

Cheers Steve.

Hi again all

Just received pack 12 which allows for installation of the exhaust. I unfortunately didn't take any pics of the process whilst building the engine but Mr Birdseye seems to have that and the rest of the build covered very well.

Here's some up to now.

The engine in situ in frame. The oil level window has been painted on the reverse with a few coats of clear yellow until it appears oil like in colour.

The exhausts have been treated to a heat staining with very thinned clear blue and orange, and the weld points have been highlighted with Molotow liquid chrome.

The installation of the exhaust needed a bit of Cursing and loosening of the screws as they didn't quite align perfectly. There is some flex in the headers so all's well.

Hi all,

Recently been passing the time with some other kits whilst waiting for further deliveries and during the forever present Covid. Decided to have a go at the Tamiya 1/6 CB750F. Painted with the excellent Tamiya lacquer paint LP46 pure metallic red. Also decided I would like to have some working lights.

After finishing this quite a few Rossi deliveries turned up from Germany of all places BigGrin , starting with issue 13 and going through to issue 17.

More to follow.

Brake control unit and fuel tank.

All the lovely lambda connections, definitely need a touch of glue and tweezers and patience of JobCrying.

I just had to re-finish the fuel tank to get rid of the seam when assembled. It wouldn't show on the finished model but I would know it was there. A bit of filler, primer and metallic silver, and just like new.

Hi and thanks for the comments.

I was inspired to re-start modelling after lurking on this site for a while.

The amount of talent and skill on here is something to truly aspire to.

Thinking of buying a full kit just to do a Quatararo Petronas M1.

Thanks again.

Pack 18

All the components needed for the handlebars. They are very well detailed with working levers with a good feel to them, not too firm or soft. The throttle is also good with a sprung return.

The throttle cable ends need to be removed from the sprue and are marked front and rear accordingly. I did place a tiny amount of glue on the switch gear halves just to be sure.

Pack 19

Top yoke, brake/clutch reservoirs and steering damper. Brake lines and splitter to be used with future packs.

Again these are well made and will allow you to finally attach the front end BigGrin by means of screws and push fit. I have put lock wire on each end of the grips as in the real bike. The only issue i had was with the steering damper. out of the box the small regulator piece was cracked and nearly hanging off (circled).
The damper internal bar was slightly scuffed but no bother will re-paint.

I will remove the regulator piece and either not use it or make one from scratch out of a needle or leg of L.E.D.

The fork tops I have attempted to match the colour of the new forks by wrapping them in bare metal foil then painting with clear yellow.

The new forks were sourced from Japan as it appears that the Japanese market received anodised forks. I have also got a work in progress for the clock decal. first try is a little small but I will persevereBlink . Brake disc re-painted with zero paints carbon.

Nearly at the end. Now I need a case for this monster.Drool

Morning all

Whilst waiting for parts to be delivered I was looking at the model, Particularly the airbox. Both sides have access holes in them, so I looked through the instructions to see if there would be any data cables or pipes included in the issues. I think there should be something like a MAF sensor that goes to the ECU.

So I've cobbled one together. Also started working on a rear camera.

Great attention to detail, well spotted, I wondered what those loops on the air box were for. Will camera be forward and rear facing?

Thanks Alec

I seem to keep finding things to do whilst waiting for the next instalment. As well as the rear the front camera is in the process of being made, tricky little devil about 6mm square. Trying to find some reference to how they are mounted.

Something else I'm looking at is a little flat spot positioned above and to the left of the speedo. Think it may be yet another sensor.Blink

Enough to keep me going with that and the fibre optics for the rear light (wet race mode).
