Couple more pics to show where I'm up to:

Our youngest giving me a hand on issue 38:

The first 2 layers of issue 38

Like some of the other guys on the forum, I've added 2 additional layers of planking at the keel:

I didn't need any stealers at the stern, but I did use 2 droppers:

4 layers to go on the Port side:

Hi Stefan! Cool

Great job! I see your little helper is keeping an eye on the instructions for you. You will be happy to get the last plank in place.

Grand job Srephan. Looks like your patience is paying off. For me the last ten rows seem to be taking forever.

Not much happening except for sanding the hull.

Started with P40 grit sandpaper to get rid of all the pencil marks and then progressed to P80, P120, P220 and P400. I read a post somewhere on this forum to paint the hull and sand back the paint which will serve 2 purposes: 1. act like a sanding sealer to lift the remaining wood fibers and 2. The areas which are still not flush will show up more clearly.

On Saturday I covered the outside table with newspaper, masked off the top-half of the model and spray-painted it. I'm now in the process of sanding off the paint with P600 sandpaper.

The painting also highlights where there are still gaps in the planking that has not been filled. I'm unsure whether to fill these or leave them for a more authentic look.

Thanks Johnny! The sanding off of the paint is turning out to be quite a tedious job with the fine sandpaper.

Thanks Gerrit - you're 100% correct. When I look back now, I still can't believe that I got the stern planking done!

Well done sir, just look at the beautiful shape of the hull in the first picture, and to think its all your own work, its a very satisfying feel, you must be very pleased.

hi stephen.yes it were me that put up that tip 'bout painting then wet & dry rub down,at this stage I used 600 grade WET,much easier to wipe down,
and if continued by filling and painting you will get a glass like finish,
so you have to determine how far to go,lovely job so far.well done.
