HI Tom I took the liberty of borrowing the first photo you sent me and cycled and pointed the the area of interest it looks like you started the angle before the edge of the support gallery in fact the plank look like it comes to a point LOL if you don't mind me saying if you look at the photo I sent you will see Ronnie ronald305 attached the following image(s):

hey Tom
I think I almost have the angle cut that is, but I am still having issues with the plank trying to split at the turns and the twist should I go and buy a steamer
for the twist portion but how to resolve the splinting at the turns, if I can only figure a way to gradual bend the plank or planks in the L shape form like
you did for yours what are your thoughts thank you

As I mentioned upscreen, the easiest way to steam wood is with a common household clothes iron.

Hi Ronald as I said before I use the steam from a kettle to make the twist .I just use an ordinary electric kettle i find if boil the kettle to make the missus a cup of tea, theres usually enough steam comes out to make the twist and everyone's happy  . You could also try Marks method,I think you have to experiment and find a method that suits you. Hi Alan
do you think Mark will allow me to ask you one question, The question is the
bend in Part 4 of stage 33 of the instructions it is not a full L shape, is
that the bend shape it is suppose to be at before cutting the angle and
chamfering it before twisting it to fit the stern, if so I thought it had to
be more of a L shape to snug the corner, because I can get the check mark
shape no problem, once I get that all I need to do is getting the twist right
let alone the angle cut. thank you

And twist first then just kept trimming bits off the end and trying it against the frame until I got a nice fit. As for soaking the wood in my humble opinion once it's soaked for a couple of hours it ain't gonna get any wetter. Here's a few more pics hope they help.
