Hi All,
Alan (Gandale) made an offhand suggestion in Wabies X-wing build log, that I think is a damn good idea.
Alan suggested that we create a new area where electronic modifications can be detailed, and discussed. There are more and more builders adding lights, fiber optics, and so on. I know many are utterly mystified by the process, and the technical requirements, myself included. (Especially with the more complicated things!) We also have DarbyVet, (Carl) and Mark Warren who all do some utterly amazing things with electronics. So, we are fortunate to have 3 outstanding modelers, who are VERY adept at adding electronics into their builds, all of whom could really help!
Are there other Forum members who might appreciate a dedicated forum for these builds? Please let me know below!

I do think a dedicated area where members can post up tips, techniques and idea's on how to go about planning and installing electronics into builds. Hopefully this would include the basics to start with, showing idea's, wiring diagrams, components etc. I know nothing about this side of modelling and would for one be very interested in following this topic. It has to be fed by the members with hopefully our three masters providing the guidance where necessary.... The plea is out there now for members to provide the input.... Regards Alan

I think it will be a great idea. It doesn’t need to be complicated and most times it’s not. With a few simple tools and a little imagination you can bring any model to life. For those out there being daunted by this subject, I’m sure you’ll be supported by many members who can give ideas for those who want to have a go. Mark

Sounds like a very good idea. Lighting can be added to so many types of model and when done correctly can add so much to a build. Looking forward to this. Tony Happy Modelling

Bring it on. Sometimes all you need is a prompt as to where to find stuff you can use for "your" idea. A tip here and there on the finer points and your off. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Anything that will add an 'extra' to the forum is a bonus.

This is a great idea I would have liked to light some of my boat builds but lack the know how. Maybe deagostini could even put together some generic lighting kits for us to purchase Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Great idea! I have been thinking of adding some extra lights, (static and flashing) to the truck I am building.
I have also been thinking, a dedicated area for robots / 3d printing as a sub area to the above would be good as well, specially as there is an increase in models in that area. :)

This sounds like a great idea. I am not very good with electrics and if I can glean some guidance or tips from fellow modellers, that would be a real bonus especially in a dedicated area as opposed to an individual build. Chris

Chris Hi Chris, I have posted my thoughts on this idea (post#8) and will add it is something that will need an easy navigation system to find the info you need to access. For example: 1: Power supplies 2: Altering power supplies, to give a variety of supply voltages from one source. 3: Power sockets and switches - How many needed and how to wire them. Then onto: LED`s how they work and how to wire them etc etc etc. This doesn`t have to read like rocket science and really needs scripting by the people posting accordingly, or the point of the whole idea will be lost.
