I also had to figure out a way of temporarily positioning it, so i could check the height, length and width and ponder how to support it once fitted. So, by fixing a piece of double-sided tape to the inside, i could stick the end of a pen to it and then i could move the box section into place, take a few measurements and remove it again. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. Been a case of two steps back, one forward this week. The attached photo shows the end of the switchboard shell painted black on the inside as this will be ever so slightly visible when fitted. When i came to test fit the switchboard with the additional unit attached, it became clear that the couplers i made a couple of weeks ago were slightly too large.   So, out comes the switchboard followed by the removal of the couplers. I trimmed and filed the couplers before repainting and refitting. The attached photo shows the resized couplers fitted and the switchboard in it's correct location; horizontal, perpendicular and following the centre line of the u-boat and not the taper of the hull. Hi Phil, I managed to spend a good bit of time today finally catching up with your build diary. The more I looked the more gobsmacked I become.... ... Phil Good to see you were able to resolve the issue without to many problems. I am amazed at just how much fine detail you are able to pack into this model. I could do with your eyesight and steady hand that is for sure. Hope the res5 continues well for you. Tony Happy Modelling

Good afternoon from 'The Dockyard'. Thanks for all of the comments guys, much appreciated. So this week i have been doing more work on the port main motor switchboard and made a start on the front fascia. I cut a piece of 0.5mm thick acetal sheet to size and added guides to what will be the inside. See attached photo. The guides ensure i can remove the front fascia to work on it independently and refit or remove it as necessary, knowing that it will align correctly every time. Lots of measuring and marking out followed to determine the position of the control handles. Once marked, i drilled through each mark with differing sizes of drill until the final holes were 2.0mm diameter. 2.0mm rod was then inserted, glued and trimmed to length. The next job was to make all of the individual panels for the front fascia. Made from 0.25mm thick acetal sheet, cut to size, the attached photo shows the top panels fitted and the lower panels prepared.
