Hi all,
I have noticed recent posts about spray booths and thought it best to put up a general warning, rather than have it lost in one specific thread.
Spray booths are a great idea to stop vapours accumulating in confined spaces.
What people need to realise is that there are good/bad extractors.
Here is my personal view on what to be cautious of:
Any electric motor that has brushes on the motor commutator creates sparks all be it they are small.
Cheap shop bought booths are likely to have these motors and they won`t be sealed, so any vapour reaching the motor could ignite within the booth.
Home made booths could very likely have the same issue, unless you make sure you seal the motor.
My Advise:
Look for an extractor that states it has a fully sealed motor with the best volume of extraction you can find. That way you won`t choke to death or blow your darn head off.
Cheap is not always best.
I won`t recommend any particular model of extractor because at the end of the day its personnel choice, but I thought it best to put up this warning.
