i know but water will find a way i have built a double plank boat be fore planks over lapping the first plank joints with the second plank and water still found its way in all because a pinhole in the middle of a plank ended up in the middle of a joint found out by flooding the boat in side and looking for the weep and if this build is the same as the bismarck you plank from the top down take a look at the builds on you tube the russin one good and how he fixes his planks with rubber bands so they pull in and up tight to the next one

I have seen this also but think it just shows a few sample steps and not a build diary. More of a getting started page to show any newcomers what to expect, if they do a build diary or any updates past issue 4 I would be very surprised and offer a MASSIVE appologey .

dont get too excited by it:)

oh and MWG, looking good but as Mr T pointed out watch the clamps, get it screwed to a board mate, superb stuff, I'll be doing mine after the race on sunday and updating a blog;) again!!!

Have to agree with you Colin, its unlikely the build will be shown beyond issue 4

Its a double planked build, if you properly water seal inside and out with a proprietory water sealing method, then all will be fine .

BigGrin Hi following ure diary with interest

i screwed my Yamato down to a PINE base, but unfortunately i kept it in the shed thinking its going to go in or under the water (as top heavy)therefore keeping it in the shed should not be a problem

Over the winter period not realising that the birds had pinched half the roof so when it rained well u can guess where the leak would dribble onto
The wood got sodden and even the base ended up warped therefore the false hull was warped too

Cool Thinking about getting a tin can like ColinFlapper

Can I just chip in that a pine build board is probably the worst material to use, pine is prone to warp amd movement.

A minimum 12mm melamine/conti or MDF board avoids this risk.

Also its not wise to store a wooden model of any description in an outdoore shed, the changes in interior atmospherices from day to day be it sun one day and rain the next, can do all sorts of nasty things to the wooden framework of as model.
