Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. More progress this week adding details to the port main motor switchboard. The attached photo shows the current stage of the switchboard. A little more work next week should see this done. I'll be adding handwheels after it's painted and these locate on all of the raised rods you can see. The smaller rods represent push buttons. I also spent a bit of time making 10 x voltmeter/ammeter dials. I drilled a 2.0mm hole length ways through a 3.0mm diameter styrene rod. Sliced this into small sections and then filed a 2.0mm diameter rod to a half moon shape, sliced this into small sections and fitted these into the holes to give the dial profile. I also spent a bit of time preparing a photo to make into decals which i will fix behind clear sheet to give that depth and detail when placed behind the dial face. The attached photo shows clear plastic sheet glued to the back of the dial faces. The clear plastic sheet came from the packaging off a cake box. I then fixed the decals onto 0.5mm thick plastic sheet and glued the dial faces on top of them. At some point over the weekend i will separate them all and file the edges smooth and round before painting. I then turned my attention back to the switchboard and drilled out 0.5mm diameter holes. Once done i could then insert a small length of brass rod to represent the catches for the individual panels. The attached photo shows the switchboard completed. I still have a bracket and a hand rail to make, but the rest is done! The voltmeter and ammeter dials will be added, along with the hand wheels, once it has been painted and several dozen brass plates added!
